As a CMDB Administrator, you will play a critical role in managing and maintaining the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) to ensure accuracy, integrity, and reliability of configuration data. You will collaborate with various teams to gather, analyze, and update configuration items, relationships, and attributes within the ServiceNow CMDB. This role requires strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and expertise in configuration management practices and tools.

What you’ll do
CMDB Maintenance:
- Maintain the CMDB by ensuring all configuration items (CIs) are accurately identified, documented, and updated.
- Implement and enforce CMDB policies, processes, and procedures to maintain data integrity and consistency.
- Regularly audit the CMDB to identify and rectify discrepancies, duplicates, and inconsistencies.
- Perform data normalization and standardization to improve CMDB accuracy and usability.
Configuration Item (CI) Management:
- Define and maintain CI types, classes, and attributes based on industry standards and organizational requirements.
- Work with stakeholders to identify and classify CIs, including hardware, software, infrastructure, and services.
- Establish relationships between CIs to accurately represent dependencies and configurations.
Integration and Automation:
- Integrate CMDB with other IT Service Management (ITSM) tools and systems to facilitate data exchange and process automation.
- Develop and maintain scripts, tools, and workflows for automated CI discovery, population, and updates.
- Collaborate with software developers and system administrators to enhance CMDB functionality and integration capabilities.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Generate and distribute reports on CMDB health, compliance, and performance metrics.
- Analyze CMDB data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide insights and recommendations to optimize configuration management processes and workflows.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT operations, service desk, change management, and asset management, to ensure alignment and consistency.
- Communicate CMDB updates, changes, and best practices to stakeholders and end-users.
- Provide training and support to users on CMDB usage, processes, and tools.
This might describe you
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Proven experience as a CMDB Administrator or similar role in IT Service Management.
- In-depth knowledge of configuration management principles, practices, and methodologies.
- Proficiency in CMDB tools and platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, SolarWinds).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) and automation tools is a plus.
- ITIL Foundation certification or relevant ITSM certifications preferred.

- Familiarity with public company requirements, including Sarbanes Oxley and key regulations, if applicable. For SOX compliant roles, responsible for designing, executing, and documenting internal controls where they have been identified as owners to prevent errors in financial reporting, processes, and business operations. Including attestation to the completeness, accuracy, and compliance of all financial reporting data, where applicable.
