Cloud Test Automation Engineer

The Role:

Halcyon’s goal is to deliver an anti-ransomware solution that breaks new ground on what a security product can deliver. Aligned with this goal, Halcyon is looking for an experienced test automation engineer to contribute to our test automation, chaos engineering, and quality focus for our cloud platform, including but not limited to Halcyon’s APIs, UI, and cloud-based backend components. This role will work with the broader development organization and within the chaos engineering team to ensure that Halcyon’s code maintains a high-quality standard. The high quality of code will allow Halcyon’s product to function properly across all scenarios, helping protect customers from the threat of ransomware.

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and contribute to the development of our internally developed cloud API automation framework

• Document and develop automated tests aligned to the features we’re developing

• Create clear, concise bug reports

• Design, implement, and contribute to the development of our internally developed cloud performance testing tools

• Design, document, and develop tools to assist with testing

• Setup and manage our testing environments

• Manage and tune security scanning tools

• Contribute to and follow our Coding Style guidelines

Skills and Qualifications:

• Ability to develop in Python

• Knowledge of AWS services and how they can be used to support a cloud-based application

• Experience with cloud technologies, including Docker, Kubernetes, and VMWare

• An understanding of Microservice concepts

• Understanding of web API endpoints, including authentication, use, and load testing

• Familiarity with protocols and message formats such as JSON, Protobuf, gRPC

• Excellent verbal and written communication, including documentation

• Can work autonomously yet cohesively as part of a team

• Handle the pace and workload of a start-up work culture

Bonus Skills and Qualifications:

• Solid grasp of PyTest framework concepts, especially parameterization, fixtures, and decorators

• Knowledge of additional languages (Scala, JScript)

• Experience with Linux application automated test development

• Familiarity with GitHub Actions

• Web application development security and best practices

• AWS infrastructure security and best practices

• Docker/Kubernetes security and best practices

• Experience with SAST/DAST/SCA/IaC security scanners

Base Salary Range: $140,000 - 180,000

Bonus Target: 10%
