Leads an EMEA team of PLM technical architects responsible for Windchill cloud solution performance, scalability, governance, and operational excellence. PTC is seeking a highly experienced SO&S PLM Technical Architect Manager to lead a team of technical architects responsible for ensuring the performance, scalability, governance, and operational excellence of PTC's cloud-hosted PLM solutions. This role combines deep technical expertise in Windchill and cloud technologies with strong people leadership capabilities.

You will lead a team that partners with customers, Service Management, Technical Support, R&D, Cloud Operations, and Application teams to optimize customer environments, drive adoption of best practices, improve system health, and deliver technical advisory services across the PTC Cloud portfolio.

As a manager, you will be accountable for team performance, employee development, operational delivery, resource planning, and continuous improvement initiatives while supporting strategic customer engagements.

Key Responsibilities:

People Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of PLM Technical Architects across EMEA.
  • Conduct performance management, career development planning, and succession planning activities.
  • Drive employee engagement and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.
  • Manage resource allocation, workload balancing, and project prioritization.
  • Recruit, onboard, and mentor new team members.
  • Establish operational goals and performance metrics for the team.

Technical Architecture & Advisory

  • Provide technical leadership for Windchill and related PLM cloud environments.
  • Guide teams in conducting Technical System Assessments (TSAs), health checks, performance reviews, and architectural evaluations.
  • Review customer architectures, integrations, customizations, and deployment strategies.
  • Support critical customer escalations and complex technical challenges.
  • Drive recommendations for system optimization, scalability, and operational improvements.

Cloud Operations & Continuous Improvement

  • Promote standardization and best practices across customer environments.
  • Partner with Cloud Operations, Monitoring, Infrastructure, and Application teams to improve service reliability.
  • Drive automation initiatives and tooling enhancements.
  • Identify recurring operational issues and lead root-cause analysis efforts.
  • Contribute to service delivery methodologies, documentation, and operational frameworks.

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as a trusted advisor to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with Service Managers, Customer Success Managers, Technical Support, Product Management, and R&D.
  • Participate in customer governance meetings and executive reviews.
  • Communicate technical risks, recommendations, and strategic roadmaps effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience implementing, supporting, or architecting enterprise PLM solutions.
  • 3+ years of people management experience leading technical teams.
  • Strong experience with PTC Windchill or comparable enterprise PLM platforms.
  • Experience working in cloud-hosted environments (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
  • Excellent troubleshooting, performance tuning, and systems analysis capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives in a global environment.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent English required; German language skills are advantageous.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in Windchill architecture, upgrades, migrations, and integrations.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows administration.
  • Knowledge of databases such as Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience with automation and scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  • Familiarity with observability and monitoring platforms such as Datadog, Splunk, or Sumo Logic.
  • Experience working within SaaS delivery organizations.
  • Previous experience supporting globally distributed teams.
