Position Summary

We are seeking a senior Cloud Technical Architect with deep expertise in data lake architecture, data management, and cloud-native data services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Alibaba Cloud to join our presales and consulting practice. In this role, you will serve as the primary technical authority during client engagement cycles — translating complex data modernization challenges into compelling architectural solutions and winning proposals. You will work closely with sales, delivery, and partner teams (GCP, Alibaba Cloud) to shape data modernization strategies for enterprise clients across industries.

Key Responsibilities

Presales & Client Engagement

• Lead technical discovery sessions to understand clients' current data landscape, pain points, and business goals.

• Design and present end-to-end data modernization architectures including data lake, data lakehouse, data mesh, and cloud data warehouse solutions on GCP and Alibaba Cloud platforms.

• Develop Proof of Concept (PoC) demonstrations and reference architectures aligned to client use cases.

• Respond to RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs by authoring high-quality technical proposals, solution narratives, and architecture diagrams.

• Articulate business value and ROI of proposed data modernization initiatives to both technical and executive audiences.

Technical Architecture & Advisory

• Architect scalable, cloud-native data platforms leveraging services such as:

  • GCP: BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataproc, Dataflow, Dataplex, Pub/Sub, Looker, Dataform, BigLake, Data Catalog, Composer (managed Airflow)

  • Alibaba Cloud: MaxCompute, DataWorks, AnalyticDB, Data Lake Analytics, E-MapReduce (EMR), Realtime Compute (Flink), DataHub, Quick BI, DataV

• Design data management frameworks covering data governance, data quality, metadata management, data lineage, and master data management (MDM).

• Define modern data integration patterns including batch, streaming, CDC (Change Data Capture), and event-driven architectures.

• Advise on data security, access control, encryption at rest/in transit, and compliance with data privacy regulations (PDPA, GDPR, Cybersecurity Law of China).

• Evaluate and recommend tools across the modern data stack: dbt, Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake, Apache Kafka, Airflow, and more.

Consulting & Delivery Support

• Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing data strategy and platform roadmap guidance.

• Collaborate with delivery teams during project initiation to ensure architectural alignment and a smooth handover from presales.

• Conduct data maturity assessments and gap analysis workshops, producing actionable remediation roadmaps.

• Contribute to the development of reusable accelerators, solution blueprints, and best practice documentation within the practice.

Partnership & Ecosystem

• Maintain and deepen technical relationships with Google Cloud and Alibaba Cloud partner teams to stay current on new data services and co-selling opportunities.

• Participate in partner certification tracks and contribute to practice-level go-to-market positioning.

• Represent the company at technical forums, industry events, and cloud partner summits.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

• 8+ years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years focused on cloud data architecture and data platform engineering.

• 3+ years of experience in a presales, technical consulting, or solution architecture capacity.

• Hands-on experience designing and implementing data lake or data lakehouse solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and/or Alibaba Cloud.

• Proven experience advising enterprise clients on data modernization, cloud migration of data workloads, or analytics platform transformation.

• Strong proficiency in SQL; working knowledge of Python, Spark, or Scala for data engineering contexts.

• Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Deployment Manager, ROS) and DevOps practices for data platform deployments.

• Understanding of data storage formats: Parquet, ORC, Avro, Delta, Iceberg.

• Experience with BI/Analytics tools: Looker, Quick BI, Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent.

• Google Professional Data Engineer

• Google Professional Cloud Architect

• Alibaba Cloud Certified Professional (ACP) – Big Data or Data Analyst

• Alibaba Cloud Certified Expert (ACE) – Cloud Architect

• Databricks Certified Data Engineer (Professional)
