The Role

The Pittsburgh Paints Company IT Applications team is leading the coatings industry through an evolution in our business strategies and structure - to capture opportunities enabled by digital technologies and provide amazing customer experiences while unlocking new revenue streams and reaching new customers

As part of the IT Applications team, the Cloud Solutions Architect will build and lead the implementation of a modern Enterprise Cloud Architecture that supports our digital transformation journey. You will develop our cloud architecture foundations with an emphasis on scaling to increase growth. You will work with teams of Product Managers, Data Engineers, Enterprise Architects, Digital Ops and Sales/Marketing teams.

As part of our digital strategy, The Pittsburgh Paints Company is enforcing a cloud-first approach for all current and future solutions in our landscape, focusing on scalable, reliable and resilient software solutions, ensuring competitivity and continuity to our business when possible.  Examples of major applications hosted natively in the cloud for The Pittsburgh Paints Company are a point-of-sale system and an ecommerce application.

As a Cloud Solutions Architect, you will use your technical and functional capacities to build and implement architecture standards, data models and a reference architecture that is robust, yet flexible, scalable, and cost-effective.

The Cloud Solutions Architect will report to the Manager of Information Technology. This will be a hybrid position, working 3 days a week at our Headquarters in Cranberry Township, PA

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with partners to comprehend solution problems and identify opportunities
  • Work together with a team of application developers, engineers, and designers to provide technology solutions using Azure/AWS/Oracle public cloud services
  • Collect and define technical requirements to help business process and integrations
  • Establish an approximate level-of-effort and staffing requirements for complex development projects
  • Lead the team of software engineers and technical leads to design efficient, scalable, cost-effective and secure applications within our Cloud software platforms
  • Ensure that solutions created by the development team follow technical architecture standards
  • Stay up-to-date on latest technology trends and promote an environment of learning

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years’ experience in Solution Architecture; related experience or education may be considered.
  • 3+ years’ of relevant professional work experience designing, implementing, and supporting IT Cloud solutions
  • Solid knowledge of Software Engineering and Architectural Principles and methods, including all architectural components and their interrelationships
  • Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Certification Expert or AWS Solutions Architect Professional
  • Knowledge of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Oracle Cloud VMWare Solution
  • Knowledge of full software development lifecycle processes, enterprise application software installation and maintenance, integrating with third-party applications through API interfaces and other means
  • Solid experience with programming languages such as C#, Python; Networking concepts (DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP); Security Foundations (Identity and Access Management); cloud-specific patterns and technologies; DevOps practices; Container technologies, and Data stores
  • Experience translating complex technical concepts to simple business language. Must have a continuous improvement mindset and develop self and others to improve performance.
