Job Summary & Responsibilities

Everforth ECS is seeking a Cloud Network Engineer to work in the National Capital Region covering the Pentagon, Falls Church, and Fairfax. Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award.

The War Data Platform (WDP) is a key initiative within the U.S. Department of War's (DoW) AI-First strategy introduced in early 2026. The WDP separates business and financial data from operational warfighting data, aiming to accelerate the deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) on the battlefield. The WDP extends to Unclassified, Secret, and Top Secret environments, and supports collaboration between Combatant Commands, Joint Staff directorates, Senior Executive Service leaders, and operational analysts.

• The Cloud Network Engineer designs, implements, and sustains the cloud networking infrastructure underpinning WDP operations across NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and JWICS environments. This role is central to maintaining secure, performant, and compliant routing and connectivity across DoW classified and unclassified cloud enclaves spanning AWS GovCloud, the SC2S AWS Secret Region, and the C2S AWS JWICS environment.
• Implements and administers cloud network components supporting War Data Platform (WDP) Core Integration enterprise operations across segregated Department of War enclaves.
• Configures transit gateways, virtual private clouds, subnet groups, Domain Name System zones, and routing rules supporting mission application hosting.
• Manages gateway configurations, elastic Internet Protocol assignments, virtual private network tunnels, VPC Endpoints, and load balancing constructs.
• Performs connectivity diagnostics, packet tracing, and latency evaluations using CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and VPC Flow Logs.
• Supports development of network configuration documentation, routing matrices, and network security baselines.
• Executes network hardening actions, encryption configurations, and segmentation techniques aligned with operational requirements.
• Integrates routing updates and network modifications into system administration workflows, release management cycles, and operations documentation.
• Coordinates with cloud engineers, system administrators, and cybersecurity teams to support application routing needs, boundary protections, and incident investigations.
• Conducts analysis of Domain Name System failures, routing inconsistencies, and performance bottlenecks, contributing to corrective actions and service restoration.
• Maintains configuration accuracy through version control processes and structured network update logging.
• Supports operational readiness through monitoring, alert triage, and remediation actions.
• Contributes to project deliverables by preparing architecture updates, network health summaries, and operational reporting inputs for program reviews.
• Advances mission execution by sustaining stable routing environments, predictable network behavior, and compliant cloud networking operations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
• 3–10 years of experience in cloud networking, network engineering, or a closely related technical discipline within federal, DoW, or enterprise cloud environments.
• Experience implementing network security baselines, data encryption, VPN tunnels, VPC endpoints, and strict segmentation techniques to safeguard mission-critical data platforms.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex routing, DNS, and latency issues using CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and VPC Flow Logs, while collaborating with cross-functional engineering and cybersecurity teams to support incident response and release management.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, with a proven ability to weigh the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and identify the most appropriate solution.
• Highly developed interpersonal and oral/written communication skills, with the ability to effectively and professionally interact with a diverse set of stakeholders (from peers to end-users to executive management).

Skills Required

  • 3-10 years of experience in cloud networking, network engineering, or a related field
  • Experience implementing network security baselines, data encryption, VPN tunnels, and VPC endpoints
  • Current Secret security clearance
  • Ability to troubleshoot routing, DNS, and latency issues
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
