You'll work closely with application owners, software engineers, platform teams, and fellow architects to design secure, scalable, and resilient solutions that align with enterprise architecture standards and strategic business objectives.

You'll join a highly collaborative architecture organization responsible for guiding technology decisions across infrastructure, cloud, platform, and application domains. This role offers the opportunity to help drive M&T's ongoing transformation from legacy data center environments to modern cloud platforms. You will work across a diverse technology landscape and partner with application owners, developers, and engineering teams to architect solutions that support some of the bank's most critical technology initiatives.

Rather than focusing on a single application or platform, you'll have the opportunity to influence architectural decisions across multiple domains while working with both established and emerging technologies. This position provides broad exposure to enterprise-scale cloud, infrastructure, and modernization initiatives and a chance to make a meaningful impact on the future state of the bank's technology ecosystem.

• Actively participate and collaborate on the design, building, testing, and deployment of technology solutions with assigned Agile teams.
• Collaborate with domain leadership and Enterprise Architects to understand business drivers, current and future-state capabilities, and strategic objectives.
• Design end-to-end technology solutions that align with architecture principles, technology standards, security requirements, and operational best practices.
• Produce and maintain architecture deliverables including solution architecture documents, conceptual designs, logical designs, physical designs, technical specifications, infrastructure diagrams, and network diagrams.
• Partner with application owners, software engineers, infrastructure teams, and platform engineering teams to develop scalable, secure, and resilient solutions.
• Evaluate solution options and communicate technical recommendations, tradeoffs, risks, and benefits to stakeholders and leadership.
• Participate in the creation and evolution of enterprise architecture standards and ensure alignment of delivered solutions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders on strategic initiatives and Agile team ceremonies.
• Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies and industry trends that support business and technology objectives.
• Participate in architecture governance, design reviews, and technology planning activities.
• Assist in identifying and resolving architecture-related challenges across the technology landscape.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architects and Solution Architects across domains to support integrated, enterprise-wide solutions.
• Leverage existing enterprise capabilities, reusable services, and shared technology platforms to maximize efficiency and consistency.
• Contribute to cloud migration, infrastructure modernization, and technology transformation initiatives.
• Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite.

• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 year's higher education and/or relevant work experience

• Experience designing and delivering enterprise technology solutions in a Solution Architect, Cloud Architect, Infrastructure Architect, Systems Architect, or similar architecture role.
• Hands-on experience designing solutions utilizing Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platforms.
• Experience creating architecture artifacts including solution architecture documents, technical designs, infrastructure diagrams, network diagrams, and implementation roadmaps.
• Experience supporting cloud migration, application modernization, infrastructure modernization, or technology transformation initiatives.
• Ability to work and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple levels of the organization.
• Experience in software, platform, infrastructure, or service engineering and delivery.
• Ability to research and apply modern technology trends related to cloud, infrastructure, software, and enterprise technology initiatives.
• Ability to research, evaluate, and articulate multiple approaches to solving complex technical problems.
• Experience developing and integrating applications using architecture principles, design patterns, and enterprise standards.
• Understanding of networking, compute, storage, security, resiliency, and cloud-native architecture concepts.
• Experience translating business and technical requirements into scalable, supportable, and secure technology solutions.
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.

• Graduate degree in a technical discipline.
• Experience working in two or more technical disciplines such as cloud engineering, software engineering, infrastructure engineering, systems engineering, platform engineering, or enterprise architecture.
• Experience designing and supporting hybrid cloud environments leveraging Azure and AWS.
• Experience creating and presenting architecture recommendations to technology leadership and stakeholders.
• Experience partnering directly with application development teams, platform engineering teams, infrastructure organizations, and technology leaders.
• Experience supporting cloud adoption, data center transformation, infrastructure modernization, or enterprise technology initiatives.
• Experience working in an Agile environment.
• Industry-recognized certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, TOGAF, or other architecture and cloud certifications.
• Experience working in the financial services industry.
• Experience evaluating emerging technologies and recommending architecture approaches aligned with enterprise strategy and standards.
