We are seeking a highly analytical and strategic Sr. Manager of FinOps and Cloud to lead our cloud financial strategy and execution. This is a critical, high-visibility role responsible for managing and optimizing our significant cloud investment. You will partner directly with senior leadership across Engineering, Finance, and Product to drive data-driven decisions, enhance our unit economics, and ensure the business value of our cloud spend is maximized. This role is crucial in ensuring DISCO’s engineering and finance teams work hand-in-hand to make sound strategic decisions that optimize one of our largest investments.

What You'll Do
  • Strategic Vision & Leadership: Develop and drive the firm-wide FinOps strategy, aligning cloud financial goals with broader organizational objectives and building a culture of cost-awareness and accountability.
  • Cloud Cost Optimization & Management: Lead initiatives to optimize our AWS spend by monitoring usage, identifying waste, implementing cost-saving measures, and recommending architectural and purchasing model changes (e.g., Reserved Instances, Savings Plans).
  • Financial Modeling & Analysis: Create and maintain sophisticated financial models to predict cloud costs, analyze complex cost trends, detect spend spikes and anomalies, and track spending against budgets. Develop, manage, and optimize cost models for data, software, and AI.
  • Unit Economics & Reporting: Develop and report on key cloud cost metrics and unit economics, providing the executive team with clear, actionable insights into product profitability and efficiency. Translate complex financial data into meaningful business intelligence through dashboards and reports.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Own the annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting processes for all cloud expenses, integrating them with the company's overall financial plan and accounting for business growth and technological advancements.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Serve as the primary liaison between Finance, Engineering, and Product teams. Build strong relationships to drive cost optimization initiatives, negotiate priorities, and ensure alignment with budgetary guidelines.
  • Vendor & Contract Management: Manage the relationship with AWS and other technology vendors to negotiate favorable terms, pricing, and discounts.
  • Policy & Governance: Establish and enforce FinOps policies and guidelines to govern cloud usage and spending across the organization.
Who You Are
  • 8+ years of experience in FinOps, Cloud Financial Management, Strategic Finance, or another analytically rigorous role with a direct focus on public cloud spend.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience specifically with AWS and its cost management tools (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, Cost & Usage Reports, Trusted Advisor).
  • Deep understanding of major cloud platform billing structures, pricing models, and services.
  • Proficient in using data analysis tools (SQL and Python is highly preferred) and visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to derive insights from large, complex datasets.
  • Proven ability to develop cloud budgets and conduct rigorous financial analysis.
  • An exceptional communicator with the ability to bridge the gap between technical engineering teams and non-technical finance and business audiences.
  • Proven ability to establish relationships, influence without direct authority, and drive alignment across cross-functional teams and leadership levels.
Perks of DISCO
