Position Summary:

·    Position is remote, but preferred time zone is either EST or CST time zones.  Preferred close to one of the following CDK offices:  US - Hoffman Estates IL or Austin TX

·    Lead/Manage 12-15 cloud engineers who are responsible for maintaining the CDK AWS and Azure platforms.

·    Hire new engineers

·    Develop team and individual objectives, conduct performance reviews and manage performance for the team, salary/bonus administration, goals/objectives, etc.

·    Maintain CDK Cloud Engineering cloud roadmap

·    Lead acquisitions on-boarding into CDK’s enterprise cloud environments

·    Build relationship and be key point of contact between CDK and Microsoft and AWS Account teams

·    Manage escalations from Operations into Cloud Engineering (define/manage escalation process, etc.)

·    Define and lead implementation of CDK’s Public Cloud standards including secrets management, storage, compute, networking, account management, database and operations. 

·    Consult with product teams on the use of specific AWS Services, Security best practices and cost optimization best practices

Position Qualifications:

  • Previous hands-on experience (min 3-4 years) as a Cloud Engineer working on AWS and/or Azure 

  • Experience leading a cloud engineering team of 10-15 engineers and cloud administrators.

  • Good knowledge of the following AWS services: EC2, EKS. RDS, Lambda,  Load Balancing (ALB/ELB), VPC’s, Availablity Zones/Regions, EBS, S3, Archive Services, AWS Backup, Service Control Policies, Guard Duty, AWS Identity and Access Management, Cost Optimizer, Trusted Advisor, Cost Explorer, Cloudability 

  • Broad understanding/experience across full stack infrastructure technologies, Site Reliablity Engineering practices 

  • Good understanding of DevOps practices and tools such as Github/Artifactory/Bamboo/Terraform 

  • Working knowledge of Cloud Database solutions (SQL/NoSQL), Containerization Solutions (Docker, Kubernetes), Message queuing, data streaming and caching solutions (prefer Kafka), Networking principles and concepts 

  • Some experience with scripting and development against AWS and Azure cloud platform APIs; preferred Python & Java languages 

  • Experience with Server based operating systems (Windows/Linux) and Web Services (IIS, Apache) 

  • Experience of designing, optimizing and troubleshooting public cloud platforms associated with large, complex application stacks 

  • Solid communication skills and be comfortable working with at all levels in the organization 

  • Capable of managing and prioritize multiple projects with competing resource requirements and timelines 

  • 10 yrs+ working in an IT Infrastructure related role with 3-5 years working withing public cloud environments 

  • AWS Solution Architect Professional certification preferred 

Salary: $135 - $180K + Bonus
