About Incubeta

Incubeta is a digital marketing consultancy with a focus on bringing together the best people, technology and data. Our specialists build solutions that embrace the power of technology, the truth of data and add a spark of human creativity. We help advertisers, agencies and publishers get the most from digital for their business. Established in 2001, with offices in 18 countries, we are experts in end-to-end digital advertising services and media solutions. The people of Incubeta are what sets us apart and we strive to provide a diverse and inclusive workplace that helps every individual realize their full potential through a rewarding career. When you speak to us you'll hear our culture shine through.

At Incubeta, AI is not a project or a department — it is how we work. We are actively building toward agentic AI readiness, and we want people who bring that same orientation to their own domain, constantly looking for where intelligent tooling can replace manual effort, accelerate delivery, and improve the quality of what we do.

The Opportunity

This is a critical hire. The current structure of our small IT function requires it to carry a highly diverse workload, encompassing architecture, hands-on operational engineering, vulnerability management, GCP support queries, scripting, and environment management. This breadth of responsibility is not sustainable at scale.

We are looking for a Cloud Engineer (GCP Skillset) to absorb the operational cloud workload - freeing the Cloud Architect to focus on architecture, security strategy, and product security. Your primary focus will be GCP cloud support and vulnerability management. You will be the first line of response for cloud issues and you will actively bring AI-enabled tooling into your workflows wherever it makes sense.

This is a role with real ownership and real impact from day one, not a support ticket queue. You will work directly alongside our senior IT members, collaborate with product and engineering teams, and help shape how Incubeta's cloud environment evolves as we grow.

AI Mindset — What We're Looking For

Incubeta is an AI-enabled agency. We are not looking for someone who has completed an AI course — we are looking for someone who thinks with AI instinctively. You should be the person who looks at a manual process and immediately asks: how could an AI model, an automated workflow, or an intelligent tool do this better?

Key Responsibilities

GCP Cloud Support

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all GCP-related support queries from internal product, engineering, and business teams
  • Diagnose, triage, and resolve cloud infrastructure issues promptly - escalating where required
  • Maintain clear SLAs for cloud support responsiveness and resolution times
  • Document environments, configurations, known issues, and resolutions - building a living, searchable knowledge base
  • Monitor infrastructure health, performance and cost — acting proactively on findings rather than waiting for incidents
  • Identify opportunities to use AI-assisted monitoring and alerting tools to reduce manual observation work

Vulnerability & Security Management

    • Own the day-to-day operational execution of vulnerability scanning across the GCP environment
    • Triage, prioritise and track vulnerability findings through to remediation working within agreed SLAs, include collaborating with other departments.
    • Contribute evidence and remediation records to support compliance and security automation workflows

    Cloud Infrastructure & Environment Management

    • Set up new GCP projects with necessary baseline configuration, including predefined IAM roles and resource tagging.
    • Support the business in evolving Incubeta's GCP architecture as the product portfolio grows
    • Ensure cloud configurations align with security best practices, ISO 27001 controls and internal policies
    • Automate repetitive operational tasks using scripting, AI-enabled, etc automation where appropriate

    AI Tooling & GCP Innovation

    • Actively explore and adopt Google's AI-native tooling within the GCP environment, but not limited to Google alone.
    • Support the operational management and governance of AI — access controls, usage monitoring and security guardrails
    • Bring AI-enabled approaches to your own domain: propose and implement intelligent automation for monitoring, incident detection, log analysis and routine operational tasks
    • Stay current with AI product roadmaps, bring relevant innovations to the team's attention
    • Collaborate with the business on emerging AI governance requirements as Incubeta's AI capability matures

    Required Skills & Experience

    Essential

    • 3–5 years of hands-on cloud engineering experience with strong GCP specialism — GCP experience is highly desirable. Will consider alternate cloud experiences.
    • Good understanding of core GCP services: Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, VPC, IAM, Security Command Center
    • Hands-on experience with vulnerability management — scanning, triage, remediation tracking and reporting
    • Proven ability to manage a cloud support queue and work effectively with internal technical stakeholders
    • Good understanding of cloud security fundamentals: IAM, network security, encryption, secrets management
    • Practical experience with or strong curiosity about AI-assisted tooling in a cloud operations context — Gemini for Cloud, Vertex AI, Security Command Center AI insights, or equivalent

    Advantageous

    • Google Cloud Professional certification (Cloud Engineer or equivalent)
    • Experience with Gemini Enterprise, Claude or AI tooling in a production environment
    • Familiarity with compliance automation tools
    • Experience with ISO 27001 controls from a cloud operations perspective
    • Exposure to cloud-native security platforms
    • Multi-cloud exposure (AWS or Azure) — useful context
    • Experience with observability tooling
    • Scripting capability — Python, Bash or similar
    • Knowledge of DevSecOps

    Who You Are

Beyond the technical requirements, we are looking for a specific kind of person — someone whose approach to work aligns with how Incubeta operates and where it is going.

    • You are a GCP engineer who takes ownership — you follow problems through to resolution without being asked twice
    • You think with AI natively. When you see a manual process, your first instinct is to ask how it could be automated or made smarter. You do not wait to be told to explore AI tooling — you bring ideas
    • You are curious about AI ecosystems and actively look for opportunities to apply it in your day-to-day work
    • You are collaborative - you make the teams around you better, not just the infrastructure
    • You document as you go - you understand that knowledge trapped in one person's head is a risk
    • You are comfortable in a lean, fast-moving environment where ownership is real and bureaucracy is low
    • You are based in Cape Town and available for hybrid working.

    Why Incubeta

    • Work at the intersection of cloud engineering, product technology, and AI — in a business that is genuinely building toward agentic readiness
    • Be part of a Cloud first, AI-native organisation where your curiosity about Cloud tooling roadmap is an asset, not a nice-to-have
    • Own a critical domain — GCP support and vulnerability management — from day one
    • Work directly alongside a senior Cloud Architect & Security lead who will invest in your development
    • Hybrid working from Cape Town with a global team
    • A growing product-led business where your work directly enables what the company builds and sells

    Incubeta Company Values:

    • Earn Trust: Focused on maintaining and increasing customer focus, works with the customer in mind earning trust along each step with clients and colleagues
    • Help Others Succeed: Makes an active contribution to a joint result (organizational target) or to resolving problems or conflicts. Think in terms of possibilities. Is able to solve issues and problems in a timely and effective manner, working as a team.
    • Dare to Lead: Is willing to improve individual performance and stimulate others to act accordingly. Setting the standard and example. Being solution driven.
    • Exceed Expectations: Carries out tasks without help from others; takes command of problem situations and aims to achieve more than the basic requirements

    Equal Opportunity Employer:

Incubeta is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

    Application Process:

If you feel you meet the criteria please kindly submit your resume, cover letter, and portfolio of relevant work. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. Please take note that if you do not receive a response within 2 weeks of applying, you should consider your application as unsuccessful.
