Launch Your Next Mission: Cloud Engineer – San Antonio, TX
Step into the future of national defense technology with Leidos! We're searching for a driven Cloud Engineer (Azure) ready to take on high-stakes migration projects in the DAF CLOUDworks environment. Based in San Antonio, TX, this hybrid role offers flexibility, challenge, and the opportunity to leave your mark on mission-critical systems. You'll be part of complex migrations across AWS and Azure platforms—executing discovery, planning, and implementation while championing cybersecurity and cloud modernization.
What You'll Tackle:
Serve as a technical bridge between mission partners, DAF Cw engineering, and leadership—streamlining timelines and reducing risk.
Conduct deep-dive IT environment assessments, examining dependencies, performance baselines, and risk factors.
Lead cloud migration discovery, planning, and execution for mission partners joining DAFCw.
Advance and refine MaaS processes, tools, and documentation to improve operational excellence.
Guide complex IT transitions including legacy modernization and mission-critical workload migrations.
Utilize migration tooling for DevSecOps, collaboration platforms (Jira, Confluence, GitLab), and Identity Management systems.
Orchestrate agile “wave” migrations to protect production systems and minimize disruption.
Perform additional duties that keep our cloud mission charging forward.
What You Bring to the Mission:
Clearance: Active TS/SCI from day one.
Current IAT Level II certification with the ability to obtain an IAT Level III within 6 months of hire.
Bachelor’s in Computer Science or a related field + 8 years relevant experience (or equivalent experience in lieu of degree).
Proven mastery of at least two areas: cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP), Kubernetes, CI/CD, data migration, or software refactoring.
Hands-on experience with legacy system modernization and major workload migration.
Commanding grasp of the 7 R’s of migration and practical implementation know-how.
Proficiency in top migration tools including AWS Application Migration Service, Azure Migrate, DataSync, Jira/Confluence Migration Assistant, or Transition Manager.
Strong communicator with a history of stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration.
Ability to work a hybrid schedule (subject to change due to mission requirements).
Bonus Credentials (Preferred):
Experience with agile delivery models and PI planning.
Familiarity with USAF enterprise architecture, DevSecOps, and DoD cloud regulations.
Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect.
