Job Summary

The Cloud Engineer assists in the design, implementation, and management of the organization's cloud-based systems. Working under close supervision, the Cloud Engineer works to integrate public and private cloud computing services to help our organization operate more efficiently and safely. The Cloud Engineer helps ensure that the cloud infrastructure is working properly and is being optimized for the organization's needs.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assists in developing and modifying cloud architecture to support applications and infrastructure on IaaS and PaaS platforms.

  • Supports evaluating optimal cloud solutions based on the organization's data needs.

  • Helps incorporate security management and privacy requirements into cloud hardware, software, and applications to ensure data is secure.

  • Assists with testing cloud infrastructure using specialized infrastructure tools, techniques, and technologies to support multiple cloud platforms.

  • Helps identify and resolve cloud infrastructure vulnerabilities in order to strengthen cloud infrastructure and prevent security breaches.

  • Remains up to date about new cloud products, technology, and best practices.

  • Assists with analysis of cloud compute resource requests and works with customers to deliver right-sized solutions with respect to performance and cost considerations, aligning with emerging trends and strategies for efficient cloud computing solutions.

  • Provide tier 2 support for systems experiencing problems with cloud workloads and services, along with collaborating with other IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.

  • Assists with the support and documentation of the Disaster Recovery efforts for hybrid cloud workloads.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

  • Required: Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience Requirements

  • Required: 1 year

Licensure/Certification/Listing

  • Preferred: Platform-centric certification for cloud

  • Platform-centric certification for cloud can be substituted for 1 year of experience.

Additional Requirements

  • Hybrid position must come onsite as business needs dictate.

  • Participate in on-call coverage for off hours.
