In this role, the Cloud Engineer will be a key technical resource responsible for helping customers move their workloads from on-premises or other cloud environments to AWS. You will work closely with Cloud Architects and senior team members to assess, plan, and execute migrations that align with customer business objectives and technical requirements..
Responsibilities
· Assessing on-premises infrastructure and applications for migration readiness
· Executing server, application, and database migrations using AWS migration tools
· Configuring and deploying AWS infrastructure using CloudFormation, CDK, or Terraform
· Implementing AWS networking services such as VPC, Direct Connect, and Transit Gateway
· Assisting with application testing and validation post-migration
· Documenting migration processes, configurations, and runbooks
· Supporting cutover activities during migration events
· Troubleshooting and resolving migration-related issues
· Implementing backup and disaster recovery solutions
· Assisting with cost optimization after migration completion
Top candidates will have the following:
· Technical understanding of cloud infrastructure and migration methodologies
· Experience with server, application, and database migrations
· Familiarity with AWS migration tools and services
· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
· Attention to detail and methodical approach to migration planning
· Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining accuracy
· Good communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
· Understanding of networking concepts and configurations
· Knowledge of security best practices in cloud environments
· Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and approaches
Required Experience for the Role:
· Must have 1-3 years of experience with cloud technologies, preferably AWS
· Must have AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification or ability to obtain within 3 months
· Must have basic understanding of server operating systems (Windows and Linux)
· Must have experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)
· Must have familiarity with AWS migration tools (Application Migration Service, Database Migration Service)
· Must have understanding of networking fundamentals (IP addressing, VLANs, routing)
· Must have experience with infrastructure as code tools (CloudFormation, Terraform)
· Must have knowledge of basic security concepts (IAM, security groups, NACLs)
Travel Requirement
All remote positions are considered "hybrid' due to our Remote RTO policy. All remote workers will come into our main headquarters in Rochester, NY 2x a quarter (we pay for all travel expenses).
