At World Kinect, we power global energy and commerce through technology. As a Cloud Engineer, you’ll design and operate modern AWS platforms while playing a key role in cloud cost optimization (FinOps)—balancing performance, security, and financial accountability at scale.
This role is ideal for cloud engineers who enjoy hands‑on technical work and want deeper exposure to platform engineering, automation, and cloud economics in a global enterprise environment.
What You’ll DoCloud Engineering & Platform Delivery- Design, implement, and operate secure, scalable, and highly available AWS environments
- Build and manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)
- Operate core AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, Load Balancers, Auto Scaling, and container platforms
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support reliable application and infrastructure deployments
- Automate provisioning, configuration, and operational workflows using scripting and automation tools
- Monitor platforms using observability tools and proactively address performance, availability, and reliability issues
- Support cloud migration and modernization initiatives in partnership with application and architecture teams
- Collaborate closely with security, platform, and engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery
- Work effectively in an agile, fast‑growing environment with a strong culture of learning and improvement
- Apply FinOps best practices to manage, optimize, and govern AWS cloud spend
- Monitor, analyze, and report on cloud usage and cost trends across accounts and environments
- Partner with engineering, product, and business teams to increase cost transparency and accountability
- Identify and implement cost‑optimization strategies, including:
- Rightsizing compute and storage
- Reserved Instances and Savings Plans
- Storage tiering and lifecycle policies
- Network and data‑transfer optimization
- Build and maintain cost dashboards using AWS Cost Explorer, Budgets, and FinOps tools
- Define and enforce tagging and cost‑allocation standards
- Embed cost awareness into architecture decisions, CI/CD pipelines, and IaC patterns
- Support cloud forecasting, budgeting, and long‑term financial planning.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Hands‑on experience as a Cloud Engineer supporting AWS environments
- Strong experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code
- Demonstrated experience with cloud cost management, FinOps, or AWS financial governance
- Solid understanding of AWS pricing models, billing structures, and cost drivers
- Strong problem‑solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills, able to work with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or TypeScript
- Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS/ECS)
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (CloudWatch, Datadog, New Relic)
- Knowledge of Linux and Windows systems
- Networking fundamentals (subnets, routing, gateways, firewalls)
- Experience with FinOps tools such as Apptio, CloudHealth, or similar
- AWS certifications (a plus, not required)
