- Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the assigned task(s),functional area(s) or project(s)
- Manage your assigned tickets to ensure SLA compliance and customer satisfaction
- Provide operational support in response to monitoring alerts and resolve incidents
- Respond quickly and effectively to production issues and take responsibility for seeing those issues through resolution
- Triage and escalate tickets according to QTS policy
- Support VMware ESXi and similar technologies on various hardware platforms
- Monitor, diagnose and troubleshoot issues on Windows and Linux platforms by using diagnostic tools, commands, utilities, monitoring tools
- Deliver customer-focused support through phone calls and ticket-based communications
- Consistently demonstrate initiative and commitment to optimizing systems and process
- Help plan and execute scheduled system maintenance activities including, hardware and software upgrades; software and application patching
- Help plan and execute capacity monitoring and management
- Help plan and execute functional test planning and testing for assigned functional area(s) or project(s)•Proactively create procedures to prevent/reduce severity of outages
- Proactively analyze system performance and identify improvement opportunities
- Create/update infrastructure documentation to include environment technical diagrams, workbooks, etc.
- Write/update or review Change Requests, MOPs, and similar documentation
- Work with the24x7x365 Operations Service Center and be flexible in availability as needed
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience
- Five or more years of progressive IT engineering experience
- Proficient in deploying and upgrading private cloud environments according to best practices using current versions of VMware vCenter Server and ESXi
- Proficient in configuring network virtualization technologies (NSX)•Proficient in configuring High Availability and clustering
- Proficient in various protocols/services such as SMTP, SNMP, SSL, SSH and DNS
- Competent in deploying and administering Windows, CentOS and Red Hat operating systems
- Competent understanding of Python, Ansible, PowerShell, and/or JavaScript/JSON/REST API
- Competent in hardening Operating Systems in accordance with compliance standards and policy
- Competent understanding of BGP peering, HSRP and IP subnetting
- Experience with Active Directory and Exchange administration on an enterprise level
- Experience with IT monitoring systems
- US Citizenship for this position is required by law due to federal customer contracts
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Four or more or years of Systems Administration/Engineering experience, with a focus on virtualization
- One of more systems-focused certifications (VCP-DCV, MCSA/MCSE, RHSE/RHSA, etc.)
- One or more additional technology professional certifications (CompTia A+, Network+, etc.)•Prior experience working in a Data Center environment
- Strong knowledge of Python, Ansible, PowerShell, and/or JavaScript/JSON/REST API
