Geotab is seeking a Cloud Automation Engineering professional who will be responsible for managing and monitoring the performance of the server infrastructure on the public cloud - specifically Google Compute Engine - as part of the Cloud Automation team. This position will focus on creating automated infrastructure management systems, written primarily in Python and Powershell. What you'll do:In Cloud Automation Engineering your key area of responsibility will be Design and build software to deploy, configure, and maintain IaaS solutions for internal and customer facing applications hosted by Geotab. You will need to work closely with with internal technical teams, such as Software, Engineering Support, and Database Administration.
To be successful in this role you will stay relevant to technology and should have the flexibility to adapt to the growing technology and market demands. In addition, the successful candidate will be able to work well under pressure and respond to fast changing priorities and deadlines.
How you'll make an impactDesign and build software to deploy, configure, and maintain IaaS solutions for internal and customer facing applications hosted by Geotab.
Building out automation tools and working with public cloud APIs.
Review Cloud Automation/DevOps monitoring tools and respond to or resolve outstanding issues.
Develop Cloud Automation/DevOps tools for rapid detection and response systems.
Manage System level tuning and debugging in public cloud, or containerized environment.
Provide technical support for engineering escalations.
Create and maintain documentation regarding configuration, processes, security.
Handle Large scale log collection, analysis, and dashboard creation via Big Data tools.
Collaborate in a cross-functional team with senior engineers.
Support Geotab global strategic initiatives.
Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotating schedule (if applicable)
- 3 - 5 years of required previous experience in DevOps role with a strong focus on software development.
Bachelors degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field.
Specialized knowledge or expertise in programming languages such as Python or C#/Java.
Specialized knowledge or expertise in scripting languages such as Powershell/Bash.
Experience with cloud computing: GCE, AWS, Azure.
Experience with microservices and/or containerization a strong asset.
Experience with Postgres, Google BigQuery, Linux an asset Background in Windows or Linux systems administration an asset.
Professional certifications an asset: Google Cloud Certified, Professional Cloud Architect, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, or MCSA Windows Server Certification.
Working knowledge of databases and SQL.
Experience working within a technical or engineering organization/knowledge of the high-technology industry is an asset.
High accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
Able to work well under pressure and respond to fast changing priorities and deadlines.
Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and relationship management skills.
Must stay relevant to technology and should have the flexibility to adapt to the growing technology and market demands.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem solve well-judged decisions.
A strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
