Kaeppel Consulting is seeking a Cloud Architect for staff augmentation to support a client from April 1, 2025, through approximately September 1, 2025. This is an onsite position in Erie, PA.
Technical Skills & Expertise:
- Extensive AWS Cloud Architecture Experience – Strong background in designing, implementing, and optimizing solutions in AWS.
- Cloud Networking – Deep understanding of VPC design, Transit Gateway, PrivateLink, Route 53, NAT Gateway, and hybrid connectivity (VPN, Direct Connect).
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) – Hands-on experience with Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or CDK for automated infrastructure provisioning.
- Security & Compliance – Knowledge of AWS IAM, KMS encryption, security best practices, SCPs, GuardDuty, AWS Config, and detective controls.
- AWS Well-Architected Framework – Strong understanding and ability to apply best practices across performance, security, reliability, cost optimization, and operational excellence.
- Compute & Containerization – Expertise in EC2, Lambda, ECS, EKS, and Serverless architectures with cost-efficient design.
- Storage & Data Architecture – Experience with S3, EFS, FSx, RDS, DynamoDB, Redshift, and data lifecycle strategies.
- Automation & DevOps – Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines, AWS Systems Manager, and automated deployments.
- Observability & Monitoring – Experience with CloudWatch, AWS X-Ray, OpenTelemetry, or third-party monitoring solutions like Datadog or Splunk.
- Multi-Account Strategy & Governance – Understanding of AWS Organizations, Control Tower, SCPs, Landing Zones, and multi-account best practices.
Soft Skills & Leadership:
- Strong Communication & Interpersonal Skills – Ability to effectively communicate technical designs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Cross-Team Collaboration – Experience working across network, security, application, and DevOps teamsto align on cloud strategies.
- Problem-Solving & Decision-Making – Proven ability to evaluate trade-offs, identify risks, and make architectural decisions in complex cloud environments.
- Experience in Large-Scale AWS Implementations – Has worked in enterprise-level cloud transformations, hybrid cloud models, and migration projects.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Advisory – Ability to work with leadership, providing architectural guidance and strategic recommendations.
Preferred Certifications & Experience:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional (Highly preferred).
- AWS Certified Security, Advanced Networking, or DevOps Engineer (Nice to have).
- 5+ years of hands-on AWS cloud architecture and design experience in large-scale, complex environments.
This set of requirements ensures the Cloud Architect has both technical depth and strong interpersonal skills to support the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCOE) in designing and governing AWS cloud architecture effectively.
