The Senior Research Analyst, Taxable Fixed Income job obtains, organizes and analyzes taxable fixed income market-related information from internal and external sources. As a recognized subject matter expert in taxable fixed income research, this job monitors, researches and analyzes markets and trends to recommend investment decisions and optimize acquisitions, recapitalizations, and asset purchases.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Analyzes research on specific organizations, securities, financial products, and the overall economic environment to optimize acquisitions, recapitalizations, and asset purchases.
- Monitors, researches and analyzes relevant economic, industry, and company data and market trends, preparing reports and developing complex models to support investment decisions.
- Builds complex models and acquires, assembles, and normalizes research data sets to support taxable fixed income portfolios.
- Participates in additional studies of industry groups or individual securities by searching for, compiling and analyzing data.
- Develops research methodologies and information sources to improve taxable fixed income research.
- Reviews formal reports and research processes (internal ratings, recommendation lists, watch lists, etc.) that enable the efficient and transparent oversight of the asset class.
- Reviews and approves research materials and results for dissemination.
- Identifies opportunities to improve research quality for taxable fixed income portfolio.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Nuveen Leveraged Finance is seeking a CLO research analyst to support the ongoing growth of our CLO platform. The analyst will join as a member of the CLO team, primarily working on CLO tranche investment research. The analyst will assist in all aspects of investing including manager due diligence, market research, the underwriting, execution, and monitoring of investments across the firms third-party CLO trans investing portfolio.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform detailed fundamental credit analysis and financial modeling for CLO Tranche investing; present CLO investment analysis to investment committee.

Participate on-going monitoring of the new issue and CLO secondary market for investment ideas.

Assist in the preparation of investment memos, facilitate analysis of new investment opportunities, manager due diligence.
-
Monitor and maintain metrics on the firm’s CLO portfolio, including on-going surveillance of current positions. Prepare and present detailed surveillance reports on the positions and portfolios managed by the team.

Present and report on market trends.

Review and negotiate legal documentation; track legal language regarding CLO investments.

Collaborate closely with the team’s structurers and portfolio managers on the Symphony CLO platform, and business development executives on new projects.

Assisting in preparation of investment proposals for prospective investors and presentations and or responses to questions from existing investors

Support the development of technology business solutions designed to improve internal record, keeping, monitoring, and reporting capabilities.

Coordinate with the firm’s investment operations team.

Position will report into head of Structured Credit.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

5 to 7 years’ experience within CLO markets.

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, engineering, computer science or related fields with proven academic success.

Experience in CLO research, investments or rating agencies.
-
Committed self-motivated individual who can demonstrate initiation and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong analytical skills, and exemplary attention to detail.

Proficient in Intex, Sequel, MatLab, Python.

Knowledge of programming, etc. preferred.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
