Job Description:

The Office of Counseling & Advocacy Services is seeking an experienced, culturally responsive, and clinically skilled Clinician for a full-time, benefited position. Reporting to the Director of Counseling & Advocacy Services, you will provide vital clinical care to a diverse student body of performing artists and creative innovators using a short-term treatment model. Beyond direct therapy, this senior role involves supervising clinical interns, consulting on post-hospitalization discharge planning, and leading community mental health initiatives across campus. At Berklee, your work directly supports the next generation of creative leaders.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care & Supervision:

  • Caseload Management: Maintain an active clinical caseload using a short-term treatment model, with direct clinical service time capped at 65% per AUCCCD productivity guidelines.
  • Clinical Supervision: Provide expert clinical supervision, mentorship, and evaluative training to clinical interns and trainees as assigned.
  • Assessment & Psychotherapy: Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments, lead individual and group psychotherapy, and coordinate strategic referrals to community providers for specialized long-term treatment or medication management.
  • Crisis Intervention: Deliver immediate crisis stabilization during daytime on-call rotations and manage acute psychological emergencies across the campus community.

Specialized Consultation & Community Outreach:

  • Post-Discharge Planning: Serve as the designated clinician consultant to the Assistant Vice President for Student Support Services regarding student post-hospitalization discharge planning and follow-up care.
  • Community Initiatives: Design and implement culturally relevant mental health programs, psycho-educational workshops, and outreach initiatives tailored to diverse student populations.
  • Consultation & Committees: Provide clinical guidance to faculty, staff, and student leaders, while actively serving on key institutional committees to foster student well-being.

What You'll Bring

  • Education & Licensure: Master’s degree or higher with current clinical licensure in Massachusetts (LCSW/LICSW, LMFT, LMHC, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist). Must maintain active licensure and professional liability coverage.
  • Clinical Experience: Minimum of 1 year of professional counseling experience, with demonstrated expertise delivering culturally relevant mental health services to college-aged students or transitional-age youth.
  • Supervisory & Crisis Competencies: Proven capability to supervise licensed clinicians or clinical interns. Strong crisis intervention skills, with specialized experience in treating substance use and eating disorders preferred.
  • Systemic Knowledge: Solid understanding of student development theory, higher education mental health systems, and health insurance eligibility frameworks.

Schedule & Hybrid Work Environment

  • Flexible Hybrid Model: Operates on an academic calendar-aligned hybrid schedule. Expect full in-person presence at the start of semesters. When classes are in session, the role includes one remote day per week, expanding to two remote days per week during lower-demand periods (academic breaks and summer).
  • Schedule Expectations: Requires occasional evening or weekend availability for key institutional events (Orientation, Family Weekend, Opening Day) and emergency campus outreach needs.
