Description

The Mental Health Professional/Clinician works from a recovery framework within the team providing individual and group psychotherapy using psychotherapeutic interventions (evidenced based practices preferred), cultural competence and trauma informed care to help individuals obtain their recovery goals.

Implements the on-site and community-based clinical program to ensure that adequate and creative learning opportunities are available to individuals in recovery. These opportunities should reflect the interests, needs, and recovery goals of the individuals residing in the LTSR. Participates in clinical program design as assigned.

Facilitates/co-facilitates rehabilitative activities with individuals in recovery, including educational, vocational, social, and leisure programs. Provides specialized training and assistance in both individual and group settings. 

Conducts individual and group therapy as indicated.  

Views individuals from a strength approach in preparation of developing treatment plan goals with a focus on recovery and restoring competency.

Provides recovery-oriented screenings and comprehensive bio-psycho-social assessments for assigned individuals.

Completes detailed documentation for individuals in their clinical record and in other areas as directed. Such documentation should be timely, legible, and provide an accurate depiction of progress, challenges, etc. in a strength-based manner. Satisfies compliance with regulations regarding record keeping and reporting.  

Completes EBP screening tools to ensure quality data and outcome reporting.

Timely reporting of all crises and unusual incidents to Nurse Manager and/or LTSR Director (Immediately if indicated; otherwise within 24 hours). Immediate reporting of psychiatric and medical crises to the Nurse on Duty. 

Participates in the multi-disciplinary treatment team as assigned.  

Compliance with all internal and external requirements and regulations regarding recordkeeping, reporting. 

Participation in Quality Improvement Program as assigned.  

Attends all internal and external meetings and training sessions as required.

Maintains compliance with all COMHAR policies and procedures with no unauthorized exception.

Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

Skills Required: 

Must have excellent verbal/written communication skills and work well with people; good, creative problem-solving skills; excellent clinical skills including assessment, individual and group therapy; knowledge of behavioral health systems, community resources; ability to work independently, and be flexible/adaptive in handling changing priorities in a fast paced work environment; computer skills required.

Master’s degree in a clinical discipline and at least 1 year of clinical MH experience and Training &/or experience in Forensic psychology; Professional license, certification, or registration if relevant to field.
