Location: Multi-site rotation required (Franklinton, Whitehall, Madison Health)

As a Counselor at Basecamp Recovery Center, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals on their recovery journey. You will conduct clinical assessments, develop personalized treatment plans, and provide both individual and group counseling services. Your goal will be to help clients achieve and maintain sobriety, enhance their overall well-being, and successfully reintegrate into their communities.

• Conduct comprehensive intake assessments using standardized tools and clinical interviews to evaluate substance use history, mental health status, and client needs
• Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans tailored to each client's unique circumstances
• Provide high-quality individual and group substance use and mental health counseling services
• Maintain an assigned caseload while continually assessing clients for risk, including lethality, suicidality, and safety concerns
• Respond promptly and effectively to crises, relapses, or mental health emergencies
• Deliver prevention, consultation, and educational services to clients and community organizations as assigned

• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation including treatment plans, progress notes, group notes, and discharge summaries
• Ensure compliance with 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, state regulations, and all agency policies and procedures
• Adhere to ethical codes (ACA, NASW, AAMFT), client rights regulations, and applicable local, state, and federal laws
• Complete all required documentation within established timeframes

• Actively participate in daily morning huddles, clinical team meetings, general staff meetings, and management meetings as scheduled
• Establish and maintain professional, supportive relationships with clients, colleagues, and external partners
• Serve as a liaison between Basecamp and external community resources to ensure continuity of care
• Assume caseloads of fellow counselors during absences due to illness, emergencies, or vacations as needed
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members (psychiatrists, nurses, case managers, peer support specialists) to coordinate comprehensive care

• Remain current on research, best practices, and advancements in substance use and mental health treatment
• Participate in ongoing professional development, clinical supervision, and continuing education to enhance clinical skills and maintain licensure requirements
• Attend required training sessions on confidentiality, safety protocols, trauma-informed care, and cultural competency

• Work occasional evenings and weekends to accommodate client schedules and program needs
• Travel between multiple facility locations (Franklinton, Whitehall, Madison Health) as required
• Uphold the Mission Statement and core values of Basecamp Recovery Center in all interactions
• Perform other duties as assigned by Clinical Director or management

• Conduct thorough biopsychosocial assessments and ASAM level of care determinations
• Facilitate individual therapy sessions using evidence-based modalities (CBT, DBT, MI, trauma-informed care)
• Lead group counseling sessions on topics including relapse prevention, coping skills, life skills, and recovery support
• Develop SMART treatment goals in collaboration with clients
• Monitor client progress and modify treatment plans as needed
• Coordinate care with external providers including primary care physicians, psychiatrists, probation officers, and family members
• Complete required clinical documentation in electronic health record (EHR) system daily
• Participate in utilization review and quality assurance activities
• Provide crisis intervention and safety planning for clients experiencing acute distress
• Make appropriate referrals to community resources for housing, employment, legal services, and medical care
• Educate clients and families about addiction, recovery, and available resources
• Maintain professional boundaries while demonstrating compassion and cultural sensitivity
• Document client attendance, participation, and progress toward treatment goals
• Complete discharge summaries and aftercare planning for transitioning clients

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related behavioral health field from an accredited institution
• Licensure: Active, unrestricted state licensure in Ohio as LPC, LPCC, LSW, LISW, or LMFT
• Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of experience working with individuals with substance use disorders or co-occurring mental health conditions (preferred)
• Certifications:
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire)
  • Valid Ohio driver's license with acceptable driving record and current auto insurance
• Background: Must pass criminal background check (Level I and Level II - FBI and BCI), drug screening, and TB test

• Master's degree in Counseling or Social Work
• Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA), Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), or other addiction-specific certification (or willingness to obtain within first year)
• Experience working with diverse populations and providing culturally competent, trauma-informed care
• Familiarity with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and harm reduction principles
• Bilingual skills (Spanish preferred)
• Experience with electronic health records systems
• Knowledge of local community resources and referral systems

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Gmail)
• Ability to learn and use electronic health record (EHR) systems
• Strong computer literacy and ability to complete documentation efficiently

• In-depth understanding of addiction, recovery processes, and evidence-based treatment models (CBT, DBT, MI, MAT)
• Strong assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning abilities
• Effective crisis intervention and de-escalation skills
• Knowledge of 42 CFR Part 2 confidentiality requirements and HIPAA regulations
• Understanding of co-occurring mental health disorders and integrated treatment approaches

• Salary Range: $45,000 - $60,000 annually (commensurate with education, licensure, and experience)
