Job Summary:

In this role, you will provide clinical guidance and operational leadership to support both clients and team members, ensuring exceptional service delivery and positive outcomes.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community agencies and external service providers.

  • Coordinate referrals and connect clients with appropriate community resources.

  • Conduct record audits and quality reviews to ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.

  • Lead clinical staffing, case review, and treatment disposition meetings.

  • Provide intake assessments, individual, family, and group therapy services.

  • Prepare and review reports for referral sources and stakeholders.

  • Oversee service delivery, monitor documentation quality, and ensure clients receive appropriate levels of care.

  • Coordinate client care, transition planning, and interdisciplinary service integration.

  • Maintain accurate client records and ensure compliance with documentation requirements.

  • Develop program schedules and services to meet client needs while protecting client rights.

  • Manage program budgets, service utilization, and fiscal projections.

  • Supervise staff scheduling, coverage, and crisis response processes.

  • Conduct employee evaluations, provide clinical supervision, coaching, and performance management.

  • Ensure staff completion of orientation, training, and continuing education requirements.

  • Monitor implementation of policies and procedures and recommend operational improvements.

  • Collaborate with leadership to support program goals and organizational initiatives.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by executive leadership.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of clinical best practices and techniques as they relate to mental health and substance use disorder treatment services.

  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations of the program to which the associate is assigned.

  • Considerable knowledge of the methods and modalities as well as the legal requirements and court procedures related to treating mental health and substance use disorders.

  • Skilled in effective supervision and training methods and principles.

  • Aptitude to develop, coordinate, and evaluate services within assigned program responsibilities developing and implementing prompt corrective action.

  • Effectively apply techniques of a complex nature in the treatment of individual clients and groups.

  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

Experience and Education Qualifications:

Substance Use Disorder Behavioral Health  Programs

  • Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Master’s Degree in social work, counseling, psychology, psychiatric nursing, or a closely related field, who has at least three (3) years professional experience in the treatment or Behavioral Health  of substance use disorder treatment and 1 year of supervisory experience in substance use disorder treatment; OR

  • Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in social work, counseling, psychology, psychiatric nursing, or a closely related field, who has at least four (4) years professional experience in the treatment or Behavioral Health  of substance use disorders and two (2) years of supervisory experience in substance use disorder treatment:

AND

  • Qualified Addiction Professional certified by the Missouri Credentialing Board, Inc. Or applicable State Board with four (4) years professional experience in the field of substance use disorder treatment and three (3) years of supervisory experience in substance use disorder treatment. OR

  • Counselor, psychologist, or physician licensed in Missouri who has at least one (1) year professional experience in the treatment or Behavioral Health  of substance use disorder treatment; AND at least one (1) year of supervisory experience in substance use disorder treatment.

Supervisory Requirements:

  • Communicate the strategic direction of the organization and encourage participation by all team members.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to all aspects of the department.

  • Take an active role in monitoring the identification, development, and execution of strategic objectives.

  • Involve, as appropriate, all team members to achieve goals.

  • Effectively communicate to team members any changes and newsworthy events within the department or company.

  • Handle difficult team member situations directly, using appropriate discretion and Human Resource advice to show respect for the individual

  • Champion change and effectively manage the implementation of new ideas.

  • Reinforces team approach throughout functions; support and solicit input from team members at all levels within the company.

Physical Requirements:

ADA Consideration - Sedentary work:  Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (exists up the 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (exists 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  Repetitive movements of hands, fingers, and arms for typing and/or writing during work shift.

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Skills Required

  • Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, psychiatric nursing, or closely related field with at least 3 years professional experience in substance use disorder treatment and 1 year supervisory experience
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, psychiatric nursing, or closely related field with at least 4 years professional experience in substance use disorder treatment and 2 years supervisory experience
  • Qualified Addiction Professional certification by the Missouri Credentialing Board, Inc. or applicable State Board with four years professional experience and three years supervisory experience in substance use disorder treatment
  • Counselor, psychologist, or physician licensed in Missouri with at least one year professional experience in substance use disorder treatment and one year of supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated experience supervising staff, providing clinical supervision, conducting employee evaluations, coaching, and performance management
  • Experience delivering intake assessments and individual, family, and group therapy for mental health and substance use disorders
  • Knowledge of clinical best practices, modalities, legal requirements, and court procedures related to mental health and substance use disorder treatment
  • Ability to perform record audits, quality reviews, ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, and maintain accurate client documentation
  • Experience managing program budgets, service utilization, scheduling, crisis response processes, and operational improvements
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
