Position Summary
The Cancer Clinical Research Unit requires a Clinical Research Analyst (CRA) to work on various research projects under the preventive oncology portfolio. Working under the direction of the Clinical Research Manager and Principal Investigators, the CRA collaborates with the Investigators, clinical research staff, and health care team to jointly assume responsibility for the frontline management and coordination of preventive oncology research studies (non-therapeutic studies). The CRA will work collaboratively with various teams within CCRU to ensure high quality data and compliance throughout the studies. The CRA will be a part of a larger CRA/CRC team and may have the opportunity to participate in other team and CCRU initiatives.

The CRA role is a primarily on-site position, with the possibility of some flexibility for work from home as clinical schedule and tasks allow, following UHN policies, and as approved by the Clinical Research Manager. Recruitment will occur across multiple UHN sites (PM, TGH, TWH), so willingness to travel to each is required - staff have access to the shuttle running between TGH and TWH.

Duties

  • Recruitment of study participants (e.g. identify and screen potential subjects, obtain informed consent).
  • Coordination of patient visits schedules as per study protocol.
  • Venipuncture and sample collection. 
  • Execution of various aspects of study visit (e.g. recording adverse events and concomitant medications, monitoring safety, administering questionnaires/ePROs, correlative sample coordination); vital signs.
  • Supporting research projects within the portfolio as assigned.
  • The CRA performs source documentation in UHN’s EMR (Epic) and data collection according to UHN policy, ICH-GCP guidelines, and study protocol.
  • Other responsibilities may include planning, implementing, and coordinating aspects of data entry (e.g. in databases or Case Report Forms) and study-related administrative tasks, such as creation and maintenance of investigator study files, ethics submissions, meeting facilitation, etc.  

Qualifications

  • At minimum, a Bachelors degree, or recognized equivalent, in a health or science-related discipline required 
  • Postgraduate certificate in clinical research, asset
  • At least one (1) - two (2) years of clinical and/or relevant professional experience required, previous clinical research experience strongly preferred
  • Certification as a Clinical Research Professional (i.e. SOCRA, ACRP), preferred
  • Certification in venipuncture or willingness to obtain, required
  • Willingness to work across multiple UHN sites (PM, TGH, TWH), required
  • Experience with patient contact and informed consent in a clinical setting
  • Understanding of clinical trial data and regulatory tasks, asset
  • Knowledge of ICH/GCP guidelines
  • Knowledge of IATA shipping regulations and basic laboratory procedures, asset
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to set priorities and work independently with accuracy in a dynamic & fast-paced environment
  • Able to operate effectively in an interdisciplinary team
  • Strong Proficiency with MS Office software, Microsoft Teams, Outlook, SharePoint
