Job Description

As a Clinical Nurse, you’ll play a key role in supporting the health and wellbeing of students, staff, and visitors across campus. You’ll provide nursing assessment, treatment for illness and injury, and respond to emergency first aid needs when they arise.

Working within the Health and Medical Service, you’ll collaborate with doctors and allied health professionals to support coordinated, high-quality care. You’ll also contribute to health education and promotion activities that help build a healthier campus community.

Every day will be a mix of clinical care, teamwork, and variety — supporting people when they need it most and helping promote positive health outcomes across the University.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide nursing care, assessment, treatment and preventative health interventions to support the wellbeing of students, staff, and visitors
  • Support visiting doctors and allied health professionals with patient care and follow-up
  • Respond to first aid and urgent health needs for students, staff, and visitors presenting to Health and Medical Services, offering calm, timely, and practical support when it matters most
  • Assist with the smooth day-to-day running of the Health and Medical Service, including clinical support tasks, admin, and maintaining supplies and equipment
  • Keep accurate electronic health records and service data using clinical systems
  • Support Wellbeing and Accessibility colleagues in managing a range of health-related presentations
  • Help build and maintain strong referral networks with external health providers and services
  • Contribute to health promotion activities such as workshops, resources, displays, and student wellbeing initiatives

About you
You are a caring and confident Registered Nurse who is passionate about supporting the health and wellbeing of others in a community-focused setting. You bring a calm, compassionate approach to care and enjoy working in a collaborative team where every day brings variety and purpose.

You thrive in environments where you can combine clinical expertise with meaningful connection, and you are motivated by helping students, staff, and visitors feel supported, safe, and well cared for.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Registration as a General Nurse with AHPRA
  • Commitment to maintaining vaccination status against measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), pertussis (whooping cough), and hepatitis B throughout your employment

You work well under pressure, communicate with warmth and professionalism, and take pride in delivering high-quality care. You’re a team player who contributes positively to shared goals and values continuous improvement in health service delivery.
