POSITION SUMMARY
The Clinical Nurse Educator is a clinically competent, registered professional nurse who evaluates educational needs and learning opportunities for the nursing staff in Women and Infant Services. The Educator coordinates and provides the unit education activities for staff development and new employee orientation and assists the Maternal Program Managers with program development, performance improvement initiatives and advances in clinical knowledge and practices.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education: BSN required, MSN preferred. National Certification in area of specialty required or obtained within first year of employment.

8. Able to identify high-risk patients and assesses progress and appropriateness of interventions. Utilizes the computer based charting system as one way to assess and review interventions regarding patient education, care plan development, proper documentation, etc.
9. Participates in the development, evaluation, and revision of standards, policies and procedures within an area of expertise. Uses computer based charting system to support the creation, enhancement or revision of nursing policies and procedures.
10. Coordinates the orientation of new personnel and the maintenance of current competencies for their specific unit.

14. Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of standards of care.

Skills Required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
- At least 2 years of clinical experience in Labor and Delivery
- National certification in area of specialty, or obtain within the first year of employment
- Current registered nurse license in the State of Texas
- Appropriate CPR certification
