Coordinates educational programs to ensure staff recruitment and retention. Prepares programs to foster learning and contribute to staff competency. Participates in all educational activities for the department staff. Liaises with Laboratory Medicine Universities and their faculty.
Job Responsibility
- Collaborates with quality/performance improvement teams and clinical laboratory management to access educational needs; evaluates effectiveness of training.
- Develops, recommends, and implements approved standardized training and competency testing material.
- Coordinates training efforts with nursing education to ensure communication of policies and procedures affecting laboratory testing.
- Presents educational lectures to hospital staff and phlebotomists.
- Coordinates educational programs with local colleges and universities and represents facility to universities, colleges, and technical schools.
- Promotes and schedules student internships with colleges and universities.
- Prepares and delivers orientation program for laboratory students; coordinates laboratory rotations; gathers/prepares student grades and evaluation reports for affiliated universities.
- Coordinates laboratory continuing education programs for the staff, and participates in system-wide continuing education.
- Assists with coordination of technical and non-technical training programs for staff.

Job Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Current License to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience, required.
