Job Summary:
The Clinical Informatics Specialist serves as a critical liaison between clinical operations, information technology, quality, and revenue cycle stakeholders. This role is responsible for the design, optimization, governance, and sustainment of clinical workflows and electronic health record (EHR) solutions to support patient safety, regulatory compliance, quality outcomes, and efficient clinical operations.
The position works closely with physicians, nursing leadership, ancillary departments, revenue integrity, and IT teams to translate clinical requirements into effective system configuration, documentation standards, clinical decision support, and data-driven insights.
Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Health Informatics, Clinical Informatics, Healthcare, Information Systems, or a related field.
· Clinical background (RN, allied health, or equivalent clinical experience) or significant clinical systems experience in a healthcare environment.
· Minimum 3–5 years of experience working with clinical information systems in an acute care or healthcare setting.
· Demonstrated experience with EHR systems and clinical workflows (orders, documentation, results, clinical decision support).
· Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Master’s degree in Clinical Informatics, Health Informatics, Nursing Informatics, or related field.
· Experience supporting physician and nursing workflows in a hospital environment.
· Familiarity with quality programs, clinical documentation improvement, and revenue integrity concepts.
· Experience participating in governance committees and formal change control processes.
· Informatics or clinical certifications (e.g., Informatics Nursing, CPIM, PMP) a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Systems & Workflow Optimization
· Analyze, design, and optimize clinical workflows within the EHR and associated clinical systems.
· Build, maintain, and support clinical content including order sets, documentation templates, clinical decision support (CDS), alerts, and workflows.
· Ensure clinical system configuration aligns with evidence-based practice, regulatory requirements, and organizational standards.
Stakeholder Engagement & Governance
· Serve as a liaison between clinicians, operational leadership, IT, quality, and revenue cycle teams.
· Participate in and support Clinical Informatics Committee governance, including intake, prioritization, and tracking of clinical requests.
· Facilitate design sessions and workflow reviews with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams.
Quality, Safety & Regulatory Support
· Support initiatives related to quality measures, patient safety, clinical documentation integrity, and regulatory compliance (e.g., CMS, Joint Commission, NY DOH).
· Ensure documentation and workflow changes support accurate charge capture, clinical quality reporting, and audit readiness.
· Assist with analysis and remediation of documentation, order management, and workflow gaps identified through audits or assessments.
Data, Reporting & Analytics
· Collaborate with analytics teams to define clinical data and reporting requirements.
· Support the development of dashboards, KPIs, and monitoring tools related to clinical performance, adoption, and outcomes.
· Use data to identify workflow inefficiencies and recommend system or process improvements.
Change Management, Training & Support
· Develop and support end-user training related to new or enhanced clinical workflows.
· Participate in testing, validation, and go-live support for clinical system enhancements.
· Provide escalation support for complex clinical application issues and workflow-related incidents.
Project & Initiative Support
· Support clinical, quality, revenue integrity, and compliance projects involving clinical systems.
· Assist with vendor coordination as needed for clinical applications and solutions.
· Maintain documentation and standards to support governance, continuity, and audits.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000
