GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

       The Clinical Educator drives excellence in patient care, care partner education and staff development   

       at Moody Neurorehabilitation Institute. This position leads staff training initiatives to enhance clinical       

       competence and service quality, evaluates the electronic medical record (EMR) for adjustments to optimize 

       documentation, data accuracy, and workflow efficiency and participates in evaluating perspective patients  

       for appropriateness for admission as needed.  The Clinical Educator will hold a license in an area of 

       care provided by Moody Neuro and will be expected to function as a patient care provider at times.  Through 

       continuous program evaluation, community engagement, and performance monitoring, the Clinical  

       Educator advances Moody Neuro’s mission to lead and innovate in brain injury rehabilitation.

 

       ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

       Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates effortless operations of the Moody program by identifying gaps between the needs of the persons served and the program.
  • Coordinates educational needs and presents sessions during onboarding within the organization. 
  • Supports program development through the development and presentation of continuing education programs.
  • Coordinates processes between departments to ensure streamlined workflows.
  • Supports implementation of new clinical initiatives, including training and education of both the clinical and operational teams.
  • Supports efficient and effective documentation practices through development and revision of the electronic medical record.
  • Serves the community at large as a representative of Moody Neurorehabilitation to promote maximal quality of life for those affected by an acquired brain injury, ensuring clinical best practices are followed. 
  • Ensures the clinical program meets the needs of the persons served by recommending and/or providing appropriate equipment and technology. This may include procurement, maintenance, and staff education related to the equipment.
  • Assists with compliance with credentialing agencies and data collection for continuous quality improvement.
  • Represents Moody for clinical research participation.
  • Coordinates community partnerships such as BIAA and NAISHA.
  • Assists in screening patients, ensuring the clinical and nursing teams have the skills and tools needed to be able to safely provide care.
  • Markets the programs and services available at Moody Neuro Rehab to patients, families, insurance carriers, referral sources, and, when needed, at industry conferences.
  • Will provide patient care within licensed specialty area as needed to support operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

          MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

          Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  •     Requires extensive reading and the ability to review files, electronic and paper records, and other information.
  • Requires a very articulate verbal ability to communicate with people of varying backgrounds and education.
  • Requires computer abilities to access software platforms or applications utilized for the screening process for Moody Neurorehabilitation.
  • Requires visual, verbal, and auditory acuity to evaluate patients. Executing the screening may include observing the patients in therapy at their current placement, gathering patient information from OT, PT, SLP, Counseling, Case Management, Director of Rehabilitation, and attending Physician.
  • Requires travel to the patient's location via various forms of transportation, including automobile and airplane. Locations could have inclement weather conditions. Must be able to drive oneself and have the ability and flexibility to function in new locations. Must be able to transport files, a laptop, and/or luggage.
  • Able to research and create presentations that are evidence-based and present to various audiences.
  • 3-5 nights of travel every 2-3 months including and evening and weekend shift once a month 

 

LIFTING REQUIREMENTS - - individuals in clinical care positions are required to lift a trainee/client independently  

up to 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds with assistance.  

Qualifications

         EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree with a clinical specialty licensure preferred such as BSN, OT, PT or SLP preferred.

Minimal clinical rehabilitation degree such as RN, LVN, PTA, or COTA.

EXPERIENCE

         Healthcare education experience required

         Previous CEU presentation experience preferred

         CPR instructor preferred

         NCI instructor preferred

         Bilingual in Spanish is beneficia

Skills Required

  • Licensed clinician in area of care provided (e.g., RN, OT, PT, SLP)
  • Minimal clinical rehabilitation degree such as RN, LVN, PTA, or COTA
  • Healthcare education experience
  • Ability to access and use electronic medical record (EMR) and related software platforms
  • Ability to review files, records, and conduct patient evaluations (visual, verbal, auditory acuity)
