Qualifications

Work requires knowledge of theories, principles, & concepts normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Nutritional Science/ closely related field + up to 1 yr of post degree course work and/or internship & no previous experience + 3-6 months of on job training/orientation. RD/RDN registration required. Work requires the analytical ability to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data in order to solve problems OR design relatively complex systems and programs. Work requires the ability to counsel and educate patients and their families, assign and follow up on the work of other employees, and perform other duties requiring a comparable level of communication skill.

Pay transparency:  St. Joseph’s Health provides a salary range to comply with New Jersey Law.  The rate of pay for each position will be determined based on a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, skills, etc.” The salary range does not include incentives, differential pay or other forms of compensation.

About the Team

St. Joseph’s University Medical Center is an academic tertiary care medical center and state designated trauma center, located on the Paterson campus, regularly accepts referrals of difficult or unusual cases from other hospitals and physicians and performs both complex and routine procedures. 

The Medical Center offers a full complement of specialty and subspecialty services including ambulatory, behavioral health, cardiovascular, emergency/trauma, internal medicine, neuroscience, oncology, orthopedic/spine, rehabilitation, surgical specialty, women’s health, imaging and pediatrics.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Nutritional Science or closely related field
  • RD or RDN registration (registered/licensed dietitian)
  • Up to 1 year post-degree coursework and/or internship (credentialing pathway)
  • No previous work experience required; 3-6 months on-the-job training/orientation provided
  • Ability to collect and analyze information from diverse sources and summarize findings
  • Ability to counsel and educate patients and families about nutrition therapy
  • Ability to assign and follow up on the work of other employees when required
