The Clinical Application Specialist is responsible for providing clinical customer support by interfacing with sales and service personnel to effectively implement Nihon Kohden Patient Monitoring Systems into the customer sites.

Essential Functions and Main Duties:

  • Responsible for implementing the Nihon Kohden Clinical Partnership Program in the United States, its’ territories and Canada.
  • Responsible for developing and delivering customized training and support plans for Nihon Kohden equipment at customer accounts.
  • Responsible for leading implementation teams to complete the project on time, safely and to the customer’s satisfaction.
  • Responsible for providing ongoing customer support either in person or by telephone.
  • Responsible for making travel arrangements according to company policies and completing expense reports within designated timeframe.
  • Responsible to update product knowledge as product operations or features change.
  • Responsible for remaining clinically knowledgeable and competent and for maintaining an active nursing licensure.
  • Responsible to manage time wisely and efficiently and to accomplish assignments within established timeframes.
  • Responsible for submitting required documentation within designated timeframe.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes.
  • Duties may be modified or assigned at any time based on business need.

Qualifications

Education / Certification / Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • Must possess a valid unrestricted nursing license issued within the United States. A valid driver’s license and good driving record are required.
  • 3+ years of experience in any Adult ICU with knowledge of hemodynamics and the ability to troubleshoot complex critical nursing issues. EKG rhythm interpretation is required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Presents a professional image at all times with an above average skill in customer service.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret equipment manuals, general business periodicals or professional journals
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to customers and other employees of the organization, and use technology to present complex information to customers
  • Working knowledge of Windows PC’s, proficient in Microsoft Outlook email applications, and efficient with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Office programs
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to be flexible with schedule and ever-changing working environments
  • Highly organized with great attention to detail
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to be managed remotely
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing, and to receive and understand verbal and written instructions in English
  • Able to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative team environment

Compensation

The salary for this position is $90,000. Actual salary is dependent on multiple factors, including but not limited to skills, education, experience and location.

Compensation Progression: Employees in good standing may be eligible for scheduled base salary increases of $3,000 after one year of service and an additional $3,000 after two years of service. Employees are also eligible for annual merit increase and bonus consideration based on individual and company performance.

Working Conditions

Schedule: This is a full-time role with a schedule that flexes to meet business and customer needs. While standard business hours are generally Monday–Friday, the position requires flexibility to support travel and on-site work. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys being in the field, working directly with customers, and building strong on-site relationships.

The role includes overnight travel Monday through Friday most weeks, with a typical schedule as follows:

  • Monday: Early morning travel (approximately 6:00 a.m.) to the assigned hospital or site
  • Tuesday–Thursday: Early start times (approximately 4:00–5:00 a.m.) with extended workdays, which can extend into the evenings (up to 11:00 p.m.–12:00 a.m.) depending on customer needs.
  • Friday: Return travel home
  • Office/Home-Based Weeks: Approximately every 8–9 weeks, the role shifts to an office- or home-based schedule focused on administrative work, calls, planning, and preparation

Holiday, overnight, or weekend work may occasionally be required. Work hours and travel schedules may vary based on business and customer needs.

Physical: Generally may require some reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying up to 25 pounds, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, standing, walking, sitting, hearing, visual acuity, and color vision. More specific details may be provided as needed or requested.

Travel: Approximately 80%

Access to Customer Sites: It is an essential function of this position to perform duties in healthcare facilities, and to achieve the necessary vendor credentialing. As part of this process, it is typically required to provide proof of vaccinations (including for COVID-19), and related personal medical information, and to comply with other criteria as needed to be able to work at customer sites. Typical vendor credentialing expenses will be paid/reimbursed by the Company.
