Job Title:                   Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner

 

Reports to:               Practice Administrator

 

Overview:

Under the direction of a supervising physician, the Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner provides high quality, efficient, team-based patient focused care. This individuals’ responsibilities include managing patients in the office and may also facilitate on call duties for his/her supervising physician. Actual daily tasks may vary based upon the department & supervising physician needs and may require evening or weekend work hours.



Responsibilities:

The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this position, but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.


  1. Performs comprehensive physical examinations, compiles patient medical data, and reports deviations from normal exam findings to supervising physician.
  2. Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as imaging studies and laboratory tests. Interprets test results for deviations from normal.
  3. Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections.
  4. Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in continuity of care.
  5. Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance of other relevant patient education.
  6. Orders interventional procedures and provides patient with pre-procedure instructions and education, including recovery path and risk factors.

Minimum Position Requirements:


  

  1. Must have successfully passed the PA national certifying exam (PANCE).
  2. National certification as a nurse practitioner.
  3. Oregon Medical Board License by date of hire.
  4. ACLS certification required.
