Mission: 

Virginia Urology will provide access to individualized, quality, and compassionate urological care from a highly specialized and diverse teams while maintaining a fulfilling work environment.

Overall Objective:  

Our LPN provides professional nursing care under the direction of a physician, ensuring that appropriate, high-quality care is delivered to all patients. This role supports clinical procedures, performs diagnostic testing, and assists with patient communication in a fast-paced outpatient setting. 

Principal Activities and Expected End Results:

     

  • Provides clinical nursing support to physicians during patient evaluations and in-office urologic procedures. 
  • Performs diagnostic tests, including urinalysis, urine cultures and other laboratory work as ordered. 
  • Administers medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and established protocols. 
  • Prepares, cleans, and sterilizes instruments and equipment.
  • Maintains adequate inventory of medical supplies. 
  • Ensures exam rooms are properly cleaned, stocked, and prepared for patient visits. 
  • Responds to phone calls from patients, family members, hospitals, and other healthcare providers.
  • Documents all communications accurately and escalate concerns to physicians when necessary. 
  • Maintains strict compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality. 
  • Adheres to OSHA standards for infection control, workplace safety, and proper handling of biohazardous materials.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in support of clinical excellence, operational effectiveness and patient-centered care.

Requirements

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • BLS Certified required.
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the Virginia State Board of Nursing.
  • At least one year of nursing experience in a medical/surgical unit of a hospital or medical office.
  • Ability to quickly and accurately enter data into a computer using a keyboard and mouse, and experience using computerized ERM and PM systems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, effectively and empathetically with patients and their family members; and to communicate professionally with physicians, fellow staff members, and staff at facilities such as hospitals and other physician’s office.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience:

  • Urological nursing experience.
  • Strong critical thinking and clinical judgement skills.
  • High-level communication and team collaboration.

Prior Work Experience:  

LPN in a physician’s office, clinic or hospital setting. 

Physical Requirements:  

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time throughout the shift.
  • Requires repetitive hand motion (keyboarding and operating a mouse).
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally with assistance, and move, position, or assist patients and equipment in accordance with safe patient handling guidelines.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, kneel, and twist while preparing rooms, positioning patients, and accessing supplies/equipment.
  • Perform clinical tasks with precision.
  • Visual acuity to observe patient condition, read monitors, identify instruments, and maintain sterile field integrity.
  • Ability to hear and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment, including alarms, team instructions, and patient needs.
  • Ability to respond quickly in urgent or emergency situations as needed.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to work in an environment with exposure to bloodborne pathogens, bodily fluids, cleaning agents, and using appropriate safety precautions.

This position is full-time, 40 hours per week, and will work Monday through Thursday 7:30 am to 5:00 pm and Friday 7:30 am to 11:30 am (will be scheduled for one full Friday at the Stony Point office once every six weeks).  If traveling between offices during the workday, employees are paid for travel time and mileage.

Skills Required
