Introduction:

Ameresco Energy Supply Management (ESM) is an award-winning energy management consultancy business, providing strategic advice, risk management and energy analytics and energy optimisation services to clients throughout the UK. Ameresco are going through an exciting period of planned growth and are looking to recruit this role based out of their office in Leeds, Yorkshire on a hybrid basis.

The ESM function is a leading utility consultancy with an enviable track record and reputation for innovation and exceptional client service. We have a unique combination of energy industry, trading, financial expertise and experience that ensures we bring a multi-disciplined approach to the optimal procurement, planning and ongoing management of energy costs, usage, and associated carbon emissions.

Ameresco ESM have placed over 2,000 energy contracts worth in excess of £1 billion with 35+ suppliers on behalf of nearly 200 clients. We focus on a small number of high-value industrial and commercial clients with a considerable energy spend.

Role Scope:

The CSM can expect to work with multi-disciplined teams with varying skillsets and abilities ensuring the delivery of Ameresco’s key services to exacting service levels. The successful candidate can expect to manage a wide variety of client portfolios, focusing on procurement, bureau and carbon services with the assistance of a team of analysts and coordinators. The nature of the role is hybrid and we would expect the candidate to be in the Leeds office for c.3 days per week.

The role requirements are

  • Providing excellent customer service

  • Managing the overall client relationship and ensuring expectations are met

  • Regular contact with clients through a variety of methods, such as face-to-face meetings, online meetings, calls and emails

  • Managing overall supplier relationships, ensuring expectations are met and discussing energy matters as required

  • Ensuring SLA’s & KPI’s are adhered to

  • Managing the workload of your team and understanding implications for the wider business

  • In-depth knowledge of the UK energy industry; Europe an advantage

  • Ensuring the smooth delivery of a wide range of client services such as procurement, bill validation, portfolio management, query handling, tenant recharging, and budgeting

  • Developing relationships at different levels in an organisation, from plant managers to Finance Directors to understand their energy and sustainability requirements.

  • Work with Ameresco consultants, service teams and subject matter experts to position, sell, develop and deploy products and services.

  • Developing routines and procedures for managing business-critical data flows

  • Presenting data to clients and working together to generate strategic and operational insights.

  • Providing expert industry knowledge and guidance to teams within Ameresco.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Degree level qualification is desirable but not essential

  • 6-8 years in an energy consultancy, management consultancy or strategic consultancy role is essential with at least 3 years team management experience and 2 years TPI experience

  • This is a senior role and the successful applicant will have a demonstrable track record in the development and delivery of energy and sustainability services which includes a knowledge of energy supply contracts, both fixed and flexible, energy markets trading and futures contracts experience, portfolio management including bill validation and query handling, carbon services and project origination and management in areas such as new connections, demand response and energy efficiency.

  • Demonstrated commitment to Professional Development

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Sharepoint and PowerBi desirable.

  • Evidence of a quantitative background is preferable, and candidates will ideally demonstrate an understanding and capability to work with energy data sets and financial information.

  • This is a ‘hands-on’ role and the candidate would be expected to take ownership of client requests through to completion, supporting the team to deliver where necessary

  • Cultivate positive and effective business relationships.

  • Serve as key point of contact with clients/suppliers/colleagues as directed by line management – this role is one that is a ‘face of Ameresco,’ and the successful candidate would maintain the highest professional standards at all times – including but not limited to excellent customer service, smart appearance, camera-on client meetings

  • Exhibit competent knowledge and understanding of entire Ameresco services including and not limited to those that the client is currently receiving.

  • Maintain and cultivate close working relationships with clients throughout the entire cycle of service provision.

  • Respond appropriately to any client concerns, questions and requests, as and when received.

  • Convey a great work ethic and conduct yourself in a way which will set an example for the respective team and other team leaders.
