Job Summary: The Client Resource Specialist is a member of Justice North's interdisciplinary legal team and works alongside attorneys and legal staff to help clients overcome barriers that affect their ability to resolve civil legal problems. The position provides holistic client support by connecting clients with community resources, assisting with benefits and services, providing crisis support, and coordinating with community partners. The Client Resource Specialist helps clients navigate complex systems while ensuring they are better positioned to engage in their legal cases and achieve long-term stability. 

Position Details 

  • Part-time, 21 hours per week  
  • Primary office location: Moorhead, Minnesota  
  • Salary Info – $32-$38/hr 
  • Flexible schedule with opportunities for hybrid and community-based work  
  • Grant-funded through December 31, 2027

Essential Functions: The Client Resource Coordinator provides client-centered support that complements legal representation by helping clients address barriers outside the courtroom that affect their legal matters. This work includes: 



Case Management:  

  • Assess client needs and identify barriers affecting legal representation.  
  • Connect clients with community resources, including housing, transportation, public benefits, food assistance, behavioral health services, domestic violence services, and other supports. 
  • Assist clients in applying for benefits and supportive services.  
  • Provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and short-term problem-solving related to the client's legal matter.  
  • Meet clients in a variety of settings, including Justice North offices, homes, shelters, courts, and community agencies as appropriate 
  • Maintain timelyaccurate, and confidential client records, documentation, and timekeeping in Justice North's case management system. 

 

Collaboration: 

  • Collaborate with attorneys and legal staff to identify client needs and develop holistic support strategies.  
  • Participate in staff meetings, case consultations, and interdisciplinary planning to support effective client services. 
  • Coordinate with community organizations and service providers.  
  • Advocate for clients in non-legal systems to improve access to services and resources. 

 

Outreach and Program Development:  

  • Participate in community outreach, legal education, and relationship-building with community partners.  
  • Assist with grant reporting, data collection, and program evaluation as needed.  
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of policies, procedures, and best practices for client support services.  
  • Provide or assist with internal training on community resources, trauma-informed practices, crisis intervention, or related topics. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, psychologysociology, counseling, public health, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience 
  • Experience working with individuals facing economic hardship, trauma, housing instabilitydomestic violence, behavioral health challenges, or other barriers 
  • Knowledge of community resources and public benefit programs or the ability to quickly develop that knowledge 
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills 
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within an interdisciplinary team 
  • Commitment to serving low-income individuals with dignityempathy, and cultural humility 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment 


Preferred 

  • Experience in legal aidvictim services, healthcarehousing, public benefits, or community-based social services.  
  • Experience providing crisis intervention or trauma-informed services.  
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities.
