SUMMARY:

The Client Certificate Specialist is responsible for assisting clients with certificates of insurance while achieving and maintaining established quality and service standards. The Client Certificate Specialist position will provide account management assistance to Producers, Account Executives, and Account Managers with the handling and processing of new and renewal commercial business. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide prompt, courteous, knowledgeable service to customers and prospects
  • Process certificates per instructions from Producer, Account Manager, or Account Executive
  • Make Producer, Account Executive, or Account Managers aware when additional coverages/endorsements are required
  • Receive phone calls from clients and companies and comply with the request and/or refer to the Producer, Account Executive, or Account Manager
  • Assist the service department in the service/reception-related activities, including but not limited to mail, phones, or processing the service e-mails 
  • Support the department with computer and word processing skills, including rating programs in our automation system
  • Maintain client files on computer systems
  • Participate in seminars and other training to maintain required licenses and for knowledge and skill development
  • Review and perform all activities relating to the public, customers, and companies in a manner to avoid issues involving potential errors and omissions

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Must have strong computer skills, with a focus on the Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.) and the ability to effectively utilize the Agency’s management systems
  • Must possess strong knowledge of insurance coverages and industry operations to effectively identify issues in coverage that may arise while issuing a certificate of insurance
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced, changing priority environment
  • Self-motivated, with the initiative to prioritize and be self-directed 
  • Regular and punctual attendance is required
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both colleagues and managers, across all levels
  • Ability to promote and maintain a team environment, willing to find accommodating solutions for our customers, companies, and the Agency
  • Ability to successfully adhere to company policies and procedures, as well as maintain strict confidentiality

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 - 4 years of commercial insurance and surety experience in a similar position preferred
  • 2 - 4 years of direct telephone customer service experience preferred
  • Proven experience working with small – mid-size commercial lines customers
  • Possession of, or the ability to quickly obtain, all licenses as required by the State Department of Insurance
  • CISR designation preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS AND REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS:

  • Fast-paced, multi-tasking, office environment with periodic high disruption and changing priorities
  • Ability to perform approximately 80% sedentary work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and negligible force frequently
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally
  • Requires operation of a computer workstation, including keyboard and video display
  • All requirements may be modified to reasonably accommodate physical or mental impairment

Skills Required
