Employee Benefits Client Advisor

Wilmington, NC | Full-Time | Hybrid Flexibility

You’re the person people call when benefits get complicated.

A renewal takes an unexpected turn. An employee can’t figure out why their coverage isn’t showing up. A carrier needs one more thing. Open enrollment is approaching faster than anyone would like.

And somehow, you’re the person who can sort through the details, figure out what needs to happen next, and make the whole thing feel a little less overwhelming.

At Wells Insurance, we’re looking for an Employee Benefits Client Advisor who knows the benefits world and genuinely enjoys helping people navigate it. You’ll be a trusted day-to-day partner to employers, working alongside our Account Executives, carriers, and internal team to keep benefit programs moving - and clients confident that someone capable is paying attention.

What You’ll Actually Do

You’ll manage the many moving pieces behind a great Employee Benefits client experience: renewals, enrollment, carrier relationships, plan changes and all.

You’ll:

  • Serve as a primary day-to-day contact for Employee Benefits clients - and become the person they’re genuinely glad to hear from
  • Keep renewals moving by coordinating RFPs, carrier marketing, proposals, and plan comparisons
  • Take a spreadsheet full of rates and plan options and turn it into something a client can actually understand
  • Prepare presentations, benefit guides, and enrollment materials that help employers communicate benefits clearly to their people
  • Coordinate enrollments, terminations, policy changes, and carrier implementations while keeping an eye on the details
  • Build productive relationships with clients and carriers, because sometimes the best way to solve a problem is still to pick up the phone
  • Review policies, contracts, and plan documents with the kind of attention that catches something before it becomes an issue
  • Partner with Account Executives to strengthen relationships, retain business, and identify opportunities to bring more value to clients
  • Keep Applied Epic and related systems accurate and up to date
  • Stay curious about changing products, regulations, compliance requirements, and what’s happening in the benefits marketplace

You’ll Probably Love This Role If...

  • You have an active North Carolina Life & Health license
  • You bring 2+ years of Employee Benefits experience and understand how all the pieces fit together
  • You have experience supporting self-funded and level-funded health plans and understand the unique considerations that come with alternative funding arrangements. While not required, this experience is preferred and will help you hit the ground running.
  • You actually enjoy comparing plans, digging into proposals, and figuring out why the numbers don’t quite match
  • You’re organized enough to keep multiple renewals moving without losing sight of the human beings behind them
  • Excel and Outlook are familiar territory, and agency management systems don’t scare you
  • You ask questions, keep learning, and aren’t afraid to pick up the phone to get an answer
  • You’d rather anticipate a problem than apologize for one later
  • You can shift from detailed analytical work to a client conversation without missing a beat
  • You’ve heard “I’m so glad you’re handling this” more than once in your career
  •
