SMX is seeking a Top Secret-cleared Data Analyst to join a high-impact federal analytics program supporting mission-critical operations. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in data, intelligence, or analytical roles who are looking to grow into modern data engineering and AI-enabled analytics.
You will work alongside a collaborative team delivering scalable data solutions while gaining hands-on experience with cloud platforms, modern data pipelines, and AI-assisted development tools. SMX provides team members with access to AI-powered development tools (e.g., Claude and similar technologies) to accelerate coding, data processing, and analytics workflows—helping you work more efficiently and build next-generation skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and maintenance of data pipelines and data processing workflows
- Write and optimize SQL queries to support data analysis and reporting needs
- Develop dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to support decision-making
- Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into data solutions
- Collaborate with analysts, engineers, and stakeholders across the program
- Contribute to cloud-based data environments (AWS preferred)
- Perform data validation, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure data quality and reliability
- Document workflows and support continuous improvement of data processes
Required Qualifications
- Active Top Secret clearance (required)
- 1–3 years of experience in data analysis, intelligence analysis
- Working knowledge of SQL or data querying tools
- Familiarity with at least one BI/analytics platform such as Strategy, ThoughtSpot, Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools
- Familiarity with data processing, reporting, or analytics workflows
- Ability to learn new tools and technologies in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Business Analytics)
- Exposure to ETL tools (Airflow, AWS Glue, Informatica, etc.)
- Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms
- Experience supporting federal or national security programs
**This position requires four days a week on site at customer location in Washington DC. **
