Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Supervise and manage a team of liability claims adjusters, providing guidance and support.
- Assign claims to adjusters and monitor their progress to ensure timely and accurate resolution.
- Review and approve claim settlements within authority limits.
- Ensure compliance with state laws, case law, and company policies.
- Oversee the investigation of complex liability claims, including general liability and auto liability.
- Coordinate and monitor litigation with attorneys, ensuring effective legal strategies.
- Conduct regular audits of claim files to ensure proper documentation and reserve levels.
- Communicate with clients to provide updates on claim status and address any concerns.
- Develop and implement training programs for new and existing adjusters.
- Participate in client meetings to discuss claim status, reserve levels, and action plans.
- Handle escalated claims and provide resolution strategies.
- Assist with client development, education, and problem-solving initiatives.
- Prepare and submit excess reports and requests for reimbursement to carriers.
- Manage subrogation claims from investigation through recovery.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in insurance, risk management, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in handling auto/general liability claims, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- State Adjuster licensing required; (multi-jurisdictional preferred). Designations a plus
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
- Excellent analytical thinking skills to evaluate complex claims.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills.
- Experience with negotiations and knowledge of the litigation process. Prepares performance evaluations on subordinate staff
- Mentors less experience co-workers to develop their understanding of procedures, state laws, and help others improve their claims handling ability
- Analyzes and resolves client issues independently.
- Attends educational seminars and networking opportunities when available.
- Attends marketing calls to present information about the claim process.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Prepares performance evaluations on subordinate staff
- Mentors less experience co-workers to develop their understanding of procedures, state laws, and help others improve their claims handling ability
- Analyzes and resolves client issues independently.
- Attends educational seminars and networking opportunities when available.

- Proficiency in basic computer skills and the ability to quickly learn new software.
- Strong work ethic and time management skills to efficiently handle a caseload.
- Ability to establish and maintain good rapport with clients and claimants.
- Ability to calculate figures and analyze data accurately
