Job Description: Claims Analyst (Outbound Freight Claims)
Position Summary
The Claims Analyst – Outbound Freight Claims is responsible for managing, analyzing, and resolving freight claims related to outbound shipments. This role ensures transportation service performance is monitored, claims are filed accurately and timely, root‑cause issues are identified, and recovery of costs is maximized. The analyst collaborates closely with carriers, distribution centers, customer service, and internal operations to improve freight quality, reduce claim frequency, and support continuous process improvement within the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
Freight Claims Management
- Track and resolve outbound in transit freight claims with carriers for damage, loss, shortages, or service failures.
- Point of contact with insurers working claim giving them all the required documentation
- Ensure all claims meet carrier requirements, including supporting documentation and deadlines.
- Maintain accurate claim records, statuses, and financial recovery data.
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze claim trends to identify recurring issues, carrier performance gaps, packaging problems, and cost‑saving opportunities.
- Prepare regular performance reports on claim activity, recovery rates, and financial impact.
- Review Incident reports from carriers on Smartsheet
Carrier & Internal Communication
- Work directly with Insurers and carriers to resolve and expedite claim resolutions.
- Collaborate with shipping, quality, warehouse, and customer service teams to gather information for claims.
- Escalate unresolved or high‑value claims as appropriate.
Process Improvement
- Recommend improvements to packaging, loading procedures, or carrier selection based on claim analysis.
- Participate in cross‑functional reviews to improve outbound shipment quality.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce freight damage and prevent repeat issues.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with carrier contracts, company policies, and freight claim regulations.
- Maintain thorough documentation for audits and internal control processes.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Logistics, Business, or related field (preferred).
- 1–3 years of experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, or freight claim processing.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Excel and transportation/claims management systems
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines.
Salary Range 43K-50K
