What You Bring to the Table

Technical Skills

  • 2–5 years experience preparing shop drawings in a construction or manufacturing environment
  • Post secondary education in Architectural Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Ability to independently to produce shop drawings and revisions
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting software
  • Ability to read architectural and structural drawings
  • Experience preparing shop drawings and fabrication drawings

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret architectural, structural, and construction drawings to understand project scope, system requirements, and technical specifications.
  • Prepare detailed shop drawings and technical drawings for project approval, fabrication, and field installation in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Develop fabrication drawings and supporting documentation that clearly define materials, dimensions, assembly methods, and installation requirements.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, sales teams, and operations staff to resolve design issues and ensure drawings align with project requirements.
  • Revise and update drawings based on project feedback, site conditions, or design changes, ensuring all revisions are properly documented and communicated.
  • Ensure drawings comply with project specifications, building codes, and internal quality standards before submission for approval or fabrication.
  • Prepare and maintain supporting documentation including bills of materials, drawing logs, and technical records where required.
  • Maintain organized project drawing files and databases, ensuring documentation is accurate, current, and accessible to project teams.
  • Participate in project coordination activities, including design reviews, internal meetings, and occasional site visits to verify field conditions and measurements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve drafting processes, drawing accuracy, and documentation standards while supporting continuous improvement within the design and project teams.
