We are looking for a Civilian Cold Case Investigator to review and investigate unsolved cases, piecing together evidence to identify suspects and assist sworn detectives with interviews, evidence analysis, and court testimony. This position will be Full-Time and Onsite for a 6–12 month contract. With employees expected to work onsite 5 days per week.

What You’ll Do
Investigate cold case files to identify suspects and piece together evidence.
Conduct comprehensive reviews of unsolved cases
Review physical evidence, such as DNA, digital forensics, firearms, fingerprints, and trace evidence
Assist sworn detectives with interviews of witnesses, victims, and suspects.
Testify in court regarding findings
Develop sources of information
Testify in court, attend pretrial conferences, and give depositions
Submit various reports and correspondence in compliance with Department standards and procedures
Promote positive public image
Write clear, concise, and thorough reports
Handle personal stress
What You'll Need
Required:
At least 20 years of full-time law enforcement experience
A minimum of 5 years of full-time investigative experience or a recommendation from the Cold Case Commander
A valid Indiana driver’s license
Working knowledge of Department Rules, Regulations, Standard Operating Procedures, state and federal laws and court procedures
Background of conducting successful criminal investigations
Ability to communicate with all types of people
Working knowledge of criminal case law and statutes
Ability to interview and interrogate people who may be in varying degrees of emotional and mental stability
Ability to write detailed, accurate, and legible reports
Must be able to organize and set priorities
Physical Demands
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards.
Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor.
Must be able to communicate with customers/team members over the phone and in person.
Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

$40 per hourThe pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
