About this role:
The Civil Structural Engineer has broad technical knowledge and experience with structural design components of medium and low voltage electrical power distribution buildings and substation projects, including steel structure and foundation analysis & design.

A day in the life:

  • Leveraging Engineering knowledge and experience, you will work in close coordination with Project Managers (PM), Director of Engineering, and engineering team members, 

  • You will support, and be part of multiple projects, for various office locations to lead, oversee, review, and/or execute the structural engineering and design of Power Distribution Buildings, and Motor Control Center Building projects

  • This person may also train, mentor, and guide junior engineers across the practice and help develop and implement best practices to advance our capabilities across this discipline

  • Lead, oversee, review, and/or execute structural engineering tasks for a variety of industrial structural members such as rolled steel shapes, lattice steel framing, and folded plate tubular steel shapes

  • Engineering duties include detailed design, calculations, and detailing for fabrication or development of loading and concept drawings for submittal to Crusoe’s production floor steel fabrication

  • Lead, oversee, review, and/or execute foundation design tasks for industrial power and datacenter structures, including drilled piers, spread footings, driven piles, and potentially other types, using industry standard software

  • Support physical building layout designs, plans, elevations/sections, details, and associated bills of materials

  • Review and approve drawings for final PE Stamping

  • Prepare and /or review specifications for construction & materials

  • Coordinates and/or performs quality checks and reviews for project deliverables per the Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements, processes, and procedures to deliver a world class quality product to the client

  • Performs quality checks and/or reviews of projects from other teams on an as needed basis

  • Collaborate with engineering team members including CAD designers, to cross-train and share resources

  • Collaborate with other engineers to develop and maintain standards

  • Ability to support multiple projects concurrently, utilizing teams in different locations

  • May also assist with developing technical papers and/or presentations that showcase Crusoe's technical capabilities

  • Participate in project reviews as needed

  • Some travel may be required

You will thrive in this role if:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required

  • Structural Engineer experience

  • AutoDesk software, Solidworks, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar analytical software

  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm and manufacturers is a plus

  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our fast-past culture is a must

  • Familiarity with the latest NESC, NEC, IEEE, ANSI, ASCE-113 and other industry standards

  • Experience using industry standard design software, including PLS software, Solidworks, and Mathcad Prime

  • This position is designated a safety sensitive position and/or is located in a safety sensitive facility. Drug and alcohol program participation is required

Compensation Range:

Compensation will be paid in the range of $130,000 - $180,000. Restricted Stock Units are included in all offers. Compensation to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
