Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly talented, self-driven, and motivated Civil Engineer to be based in the Columbus, Ohio area.

This position is expected to begin in November/December 2025.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Builds analytic and design skills.

  • Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule under supervision.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidate must have completed Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or have demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Transportation-related internship/work experience.

  • Proficiency in CADD and industry-standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation/OpenRoads).

  • Engineer-in-Training certification or ability to obtain within one year.

  • Experience with business development and client relations.

  • Experience with oversight of junior staff.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Understanding of GIS software and coding languages.

  • Strong organizational, technical, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

  • Experience designing transit (ideally BRT infrastructure) and/or transportation infrastructure.

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

Additional Information

  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

  • This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in office work in Columbus, Ohio.  The selected candidate must be available to work in Columbus, Ohio on a scheduled basis.
