The primary role of a Civil Designer is to work on water and wastewater conveyance projects in a supporting capacity, as part of a project team and under the guidance and supervision of project managers, engineers or specialists. An intermediate or senior CAD Designer will perform a variety of tasks which may include the development of CAD drawings and contract specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports. Though most of our work focuses on collaboration, there are some tasks that would require working individually to perform a variety of assignments which may include calculations, field work, and coordination of tasks.

Position Overview: Civil Designer – Water & Wastewater

• Develop detailed engineering drawings for municipal infrastructure projects using Civil 3D and/or MicroStation.

• Design and draft plans, profiles, grading, cross-sections, and surfaces for water, stormwater, wastewater, and roadway systems from concept through to final design.

• Prepare engineering drawings for municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities, ensuring effective interdisciplinary coordination.

• Interpret and apply local and regional municipal design standards, as well as client and regulatory requirements.

• Integrate topographic survey data into design workflows and incorporate as-built information into record drawings.

• Provide technical input on linear infrastructure projects, including rehabilitation and renewal initiatives.

• Collaborate with Project Engineers, Technologists, and Project Managers to support the planning, design, and preparation of construction drawings, tender documents, technical specifications, and cost estimates.

Mandatory Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil, Water, Environmental, or Design Drafting Technology.
• Minimum of 4+ years of experience in municipal engineering projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• At least 5 years of experience in water and wastewater engineering.
• Familiarity with MicroStation and Revit is considered an asset.
