What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll own the community beat — keeping readers informed, engaged, and inspired. Whether it’s covering breaking news, or crafting long-form features, you’ll produce impactful journalism that resonates across digital and print platforms.
Deliver accurate, compelling stories with speed and clarity.
Preview and cover community events.
Source stories that matter by building strong, local connections.
Collaborate with editors and digital producers to optimize storytelling for digital audiences with a focus on video storytelling and social media engagement.
Juggle breaking news with feature writing — and know when to pivot as news breaks.
What We’re Looking For
A degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
Proven news reporting experience — internships and campus media count!
Natural curiosity and a passion for covering public affairs.
Excellent writing, interviewing, and organizational skills.
Experience and proficiency in video storytelling.
A self-starter who thrives under deadline pressure.
Bonus points for experience with FOIA/public records requests.
