Job Duties:

This is a collaborative position that supports day-to-day operations in Circulation. This position supports Circulation operations, oversees students’ work and assists with circulation maintenance related tasks. Work hours for this position will vary throughout the year, but typically will be 10:00am to 6:30pm (Monday through Friday) during the academic year, and 8:30am to 5:00 pm (Monday through Friday) when classes are not in session.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Contributes to the development of policies and procedures
  • Performs basic copy cataloging functions as needed
  • Conducts searches to locate relevant materials and answer questions as needed
  • May create invoices, process complex orders, and resolve any purchasing discrepancies
  • Supports the day-to-day operations of library services to provide guidance in the use of library information resources, operations, and policies; or to acquire, prepare, and preserve library information resources for use
  • Interprets policies and procedures to answer non-routine questions and resolve issues
  • Participates in committee work within the library and the university
  • Trains and guides student employees
  • Utilizes library software and systems to retrieve, enter, and report on data using a wide variety of applications
  • Utilizes designated library systems, tools, standards, and practices to locate, retrieve, and organize; or describe, edit, preserve, and reformat a variety of library information resources

Compensation:

The Circulation Assistant is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt, annual (12-month) position.

Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting hourly rate of $16.50 - $17.33 commensurate with the candidate’s education, related experience, and qualifications.

  • Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.

  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technology.

  • Ability to multi-task, set priorities, and effectively manage multiple projects.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Experience working in a library or archives.
