Position Overview:
We are excited to invite you to join our dynamic team as the CIB Chief Data and Analytics Control Manager. In this role, you will serve as a Control Manager Executive Director, responsible for leading and building out an enhanced control framework that supports a continuous and integrated approach to risk assessment. You will oversee governance, controls, and tooling strategies for our data, analytics, and AI initiatives, ensuring that our systems are developed, deployed, and maintained in a manner that is ethical, compliant, and aligned with industry best practices.
You will collaborate closely with our Chief Data Officer (CDO) and Chief Analytics Officer (CAO) to ensure alignment with our data and analytics strategies. Additionally, you will ensure the team assists in top-down risk analysis, real-time control issue detection, escalation, root cause analysis, and remediation based on the aforementioned control framework and principles. Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement governance frameworks and controls for data, analytics, and AI systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and ethical standards.
  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of tooling and infrastructure to support robust and scalable data and AI solutions.
  • Collaborate with the CDO and CAO to align data, analytics, and AI governance and tooling strategies with organizational objectives.
  • Provide leadership support for the end-to-end execution of the Control and Operational Risk Evaluation (CORE), including control deficiencies and resolutions, to reduce financial loss, regulatory exposure, and reputational risk.
  • Monitor and assess the performance and impact of data, analytics, and AI systems, identifying and mitigating risks associated with their deployment.
  • Review and analyze program-related data (e.g., KRI/KPI) to proactively identify existing and emerging operational risks and issues to support business-related programs and strategies.
  • Interact and collaborate with Control Leaders and their respective organizations as well as key partners across the CIB.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create a Community of Practice, including data scientists, engineers, legal, and compliance, to ensure alignment with governance policies and procedures.
  • Manage and motivate a team focused on reducing financial loss, regulatory exposure, and reputational risk. Provide ongoing feedback and training and develop employees on risk concepts and the application to risk and control evaluation. Provide guidance and training to team members on data, analytics, and AI governance best practices and tooling usage.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes related to data, analytics, and AI governance and controls, uplifting existing governance and controls as needed.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of tooling (UT, ISS, AT, and Estimations) within the CIB Controls organization.

Qualifications:
  • Highly motivated individual with advanced skills in strategy, problem-solving, transformation, and delivery execution, as well as strong influencing, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Audit, internal control, or operational risk experience.
  • Proven experience in data, analytics, and AI governance, controls, and tooling, with a strong understanding of AI/ML technologies and frameworks.
  • Proficient knowledge of control and risk management concepts with the ability to design, create, and evaluate the operational risk and control environment in conjunction with business partners.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and ethical considerations related to data, analytics, and AI. Familiarity with data privacy and security standards, such as GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional certifications in AI, data science, or related fields.
  • Experience in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
  • Experience with data, analytics, and AI/ML tooling and infrastructure
