Job Description:
Accountabilities:
Incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties as below:
- Attend a day of training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign.
- Provide support in getting Kettles to zone locations prior to staff and/or volunteer’s arrival at Campaign onset.
- Ensure all Kettle donations are delivered to secure location at shift completion.
- Communicate daily issues and supply deficiencies to the supervisor.
- Orient and remind staff/volunteers on proper Kettle handling and duties as required.
- Supervise, support and assign (as required) staff and/or volunteers throughout the Campaign.
- Visit locations intermittently.
- Remain at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved), ensuring security of donations received.
- Respond to questions/queries from potential donors regarding SA ministries and programs.
- Promote, coordinate, and oversee the activities of Christmas Kettle Campaign Worker staff and/or volunteers.
- Oversee the operations of the Christmas Kettle campaign including scheduling of staff and/or volunteers.
- Will participate in recruitment of kettle worker staff and/or volunteers.
- Orientation and performance management of kettle worker staff and/or volunteers.
- Coordinate the schedule for kettle staff and/or volunteers and respond to emergency absences, etc.
- Foster and maintain positive working relationships with kettle sites.
- Coordinate the delivery and pick-up of kettles to/from sites daily, ensuring the security of donations; may deliver and pick-up kettles in an emergency situation.
- Ensure that kettle locations have adequate supplies of literature etc.
- Record statistical data and prepare weekly time sheets as required.
- Post campaign; organize retrieval of all equipment/supplies from various kettle locations.
- Perform other related duties as required.
CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

- Internal: TSA staff members, Kettle campaign team
- External: Community members
MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITY:
- Reports directly to Corps Officer.
- Direct reports: n/a. Workflow coordinator for Christmas Kettle Workers.
FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:
• Collect donations and petty cash and ensure donations are always kept secure.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- This is a temporary position.
- Shifts may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break.
- Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the hours may increase as per operational requirements.
- Work environment is typically in the office with occasional time spent in malls/stores
- Standing for long periods will be required and exposure to cold weather
- Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification.
- Local travel is associated with this position.

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
- Some high school coursework, completion of high school is an asset.
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:
- A minimum of one year of related experience or working in customer service.
- Money handling experience is an asset.
- Experience in office administration.
- Experience with general office equipment and must have strong skills and experience using online scheduling database (Salesforce) word processing (WORD); spread sheet use (EXCEL) and Email (Outlook).
- Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License, personal vehicle required and insurance, current copy of driver’s abstract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.

- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of donor, volunteer, and organizational information.
- Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.
- Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $17.60 to $21.84 with a maximum of $26.20.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
