Common App is currently searching for a Chief of Staff to CEO.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Chief of Staff to the CEO provides complex confidential support and strategic guidance to the Chief Executive Officer and oversees the executive office and its budget. 

Additionally, this individual will provide ongoing support to the CEO for internal and external meetings; conduct background research on relevant topics and meeting participants; provide executive briefings, draft agendas, create presentations; and provide strategic guidance to the CEO and senior team. This individual will also capture and track key action items and coordinate with stakeholders to manage items, ensuring follow-through. 

These duties and functions will require confidentiality, initiative, tact, sound decision-making, Independent judgment, and the ability to escalate serious or unique problems to higher levels. 

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

This role requires:

  • Candidates must live in the United States.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Higher Education, Non-Profit Management, or relevant field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 12+ years of experience in program management, strategic communications, or strategic support at the C-suite level. 
  • 10+ years of leadership experience.
  • Experience with or knowledge of the higher education admissions landscape. 
  • A deep knowledge of postsecondary education and the issues facing the college admissions and enrollment landscape.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment, and advanced project management skills in a wide range of work situations often involving highly sensitive and confidential information in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Solution-centered problem-solver with exceptional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to analyze and synthesize complex data and information succinctly.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with senior executives, Board members, legal counsel, and the general public.
  • Effective team player who can work collaboratively, meet challenges, and advance the organization's mission.
  • Able to anticipate and fulfill the business needs of executive leadership and proactively propose constructive, mission-oriented solutions to obstacles.
  • Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals and groups at all organizational levels; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High critical thinking and analytical skills to bring successful resolution to high-impact, complex, and/or cross-departmental problems.
  • Ability to anticipate and fulfill the business needs of the CEO and senior leadership.
  • Positive, collaborative, professional demeanor at all times with extraordinary relationship-building skills, tact, and diplomacy with staff, board members, and external stakeholders.
  • High degree of emotional intelligence, interpersonal skills, diplomacy, and tact.
  • Experience drafting executive talking points, memorandums, and correspondence.
  • Reliably meets deadlines, delivers results, and focuses efforts on meeting or exceeding expectations.
  • A good sense of humor and a willingness to embrace a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

PAY RANGE

Target hiring salary range $215,000 - $238,000
