The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Risk Manager to serve as Chief of Staff to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) in Raleigh, NC and join us in fulfilling our mission, while utilizing our values of excellence, improvement, and connection. In this role, you will support the CRO in operationalizing the enterprise risk management (ERM) framework of the insurance company, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory expectations. This position requires a strategic thinker with excellent organizational and communication skills to ensure the efficient operation of the Risk Management department.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a strategic partner to the CRO in developing and implementing risk management strategies and policies.
  • Lead cross-functional coordination to implement and monitor the enterprise risk management framework, ensuring timely delivery of key risk initiatives.
  • Drive the execution of risk management priorities by managing workflows, tracking deliverables, and ensuring follow through on team initiatives.
  • Oversee governance routines and reporting forums that support the CRO’s oversight of risk.
  • Serve as a liaison between the CRO and other departments, ensuring clear and effective communication to build a strong risk culture.
  • Streamline processes and improve operational efficiency within the Risk Management team that leverage new and emerging technologies through the support of centralized analytics and IT teams.
  • Organize and prepare for meetings, including drafting agendas, taking minutes, and following up on action items.
  • Analyze risk data and prepare reports and presentations for the CRO and senior management.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Handle sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality and discretion.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in risk management, insurance, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a Chief of Staff or similar role is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously and independently.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and capacity to influence and drive change.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Strong team player with a collaborative approach to work.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree preferred.
